All Floridians need to take a moment to check this out...please...
The attention of ALL Floridians is really needed at this time...
Most of you don't know me (or really anything about me) but I am a single dad of a child with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of Autism). I typically mind my own business, live and let live -- I am usually NOT an activist for any cause...it's not my style...but the state recently passed legislation that is just plain wrong on every level. And they did it VERY quietly. I am no longer a resident of Florida but I still have friends in Florida and one of my dearest friends has a daughter with a severe case of Autism. You can read about his story and what is happening in Florida RIGHT NOW (April 12, 2010) here that will affect ALL Persons with disabilities in the state. No one wants a dime from you -- just 3 minutes of your time to fill out this form and email it to the list of state senators and Governor Charlie Crist (their email addresses are at the bottom of the doc -- just do a copy/paste and send it off!). Feel free to flame me...this is too important for Florida residents to ignore. You've seen the statistics...Autism affects 1 out of every 150 births. Thank-you! |
My sister helped found a school for autistic children in Central Florida... I did their logo for them when they were first starting out as well as a bunch of creatives. Anyway, if your friend is in the area they may be interested in the school... drop me a line if so.
I've forwarded on the form and doc to them as well... I'm sure they're already aware of the issue but it can't hurt :) I'm sure they have a few parents they could gain support from as well. |

The Chase Academy, Inc. Campus Address: 700 Reed Canal Road South Daytona, FL 32119 Mailing Address: 1125 James Avenue Deltona, FL 32738 Phone: (386) 690-0893 Miriam T. Lundell is the founder and exec director. She's absolutely brilliant and the school is named after her own son, Chase, who is also autistic. My sister and mother are both on the board. They have both dedicated their lives to education. My mother is in charge of K-5 of under performing schools in all of volusia country and my sister teaches middle school at the lowest income school in the area. They like to be where they can make the biggest difference :) |

Email sent from Miami Beach.

What annoys me about his email is that they now have a 3 year old child.
What'd they do about their daughter, attempt to forget about her and move on? Didn't they realize she would eventually have to come home or were their intentions to leave her in their as long as the government would fit the bill? |
