I have not pushed them much in a while and was just asking a friend what kind of ratios he was getting. He said out of his last 495 free joins he has 12 sales (of which 2 were rebills) and 3 chargebacks. The chargebacks are the equivalent to about 60% of the $$ he made from them. 7 valid sales out of 495 is 1 sale per 71 free members.

I was shocked as across the board on other sites we do about 1 sale per 12 free members. Are your ratios this bad with AFF and GIO?

We used to do a lot better than that with them not too long ago. Still get sales and rebills trickling in on an acct we have with them even though we do not send too much traffic. His stats just seem way off to me.

What countries is his traffic from?

AFF converts as well as anyone I've tested when it comes to initial orders.

I still have an account with AFF that still sends me a monthly 4 figure check and I have not sent them any real traffic in a long time. use to get checks that were close to 6 figures. I still take the checks to the bank and they still cash. Like I said they use to really produce for me, can't really say how it would do now, but I like the recurring payments ;-) . . .

Besides the geographic origin of his traffic, how does he get his traffic? SE? Social network-fed filter pages? There's quite a lot of variables to consider...

AFF sales dropped by 75% for me in the last couple of years...

Sure, there are a lot of variables but that is one of the reasons I was considering the free to sales ratio over any other ratio. A lot of the factors you are considering would affect unique to free or unique to sales ratios but when someone does sign up the conversion ratio from free to sales has always been pretty much the same for me from site to site.

That said, his traffic is about 50% US, 15% German, 5% French, 5% Canadian, 5% UK, and then smaller portions from a multitude of counties.

Me too. I still get sales and renewals on my acct which is why I was considering sending more traffic to them but after talking to my friend it made me think twice about it. i'll probably test it out and see what does happen though anyway.

We convert at under 1 in 100 with our targeted traffic and have for over 10 years.. the recurring kicks asssss!
