cats are pretty smart, way back when i was a kid i had a cat that figured out the tv did funny things when he swatted at the remote. you'dd be watching tv, and next thing you'd know the channels are changing, numbers are popping up on screen, volume is changing itself. look over, and there's the fucking cat stepping on the remote again.

When I was a kid my cats loved smacking around rolled up tin foil balls ... and about 10 yrs ago I had 2 cats I'd drive nuts with a laser pointer lol
