No it wouldnt. It's always done in alphabetic order, so it would be GER - NIG.

Home team is first, alphabetical order doesn't matter.

I don't know what determines who is hometeam in each game though.

Nope, its how the fixtures are drawn. Whichever team comes out the "pot" first. Computer does it all of course, but still randomly chooses teams and games and fixture dates.

So it potentially could happen. TV Networks would never let it happen tho. They would change it up.
