I was watching Avatar in 3D a few weeks back and thought probably the same as all of you...>FUCKING AWESOME< It made me wonder, since most main stream movies are going 3D, is our biz going to start going more and more that way? Should we jump into content production and start down that road to get ahead of the curve? At first...my answer was a NO brainer answer....until I found a site that is already doing it. Not having the glasses already sort of frustrated me. I tried to drive around to find some and it was not easy to find...I read a tutorial on the site explaining how to MAKE 3D glasses to view the site...once again....frustrated because it isn't like the materials where readily available in the house! So I began to wonder....IS this the way to go??? Thought I would ask all of you...I have been a LOOOONNNGGG time viewer of GFY.....just don't post a lot..... So thought I would see if there would even be ANY comments to this....

I think you'll eventually see the big production guys like Vivid and Digital Playground doing 3D type stuff.

But I don't think you'll be seeing 3D on "mom and pop" sites/companies. It's way too expensive.

3D is the future and now is the time to get in early

3D is such a scam, the theaters push it because the get better profit margins with it but if you really look at it imo it sucks. I don't get any big hardon when I watch 3d stuff, actually the opposite I've yet to be impressed and mostly just feel stupid wearing the glasses.

There is probably a demand for it. So I would expect to see more delivered.

On the other hand, I'm beginning to meet more and more people who are canceling their Internet service and just using their cellphones / PDAs to surf the net. I never understood why anyone would want to wank looking at such a tiny screen but if it's all they have ... So I will also expect to see more device-friendly porn too.

3D technology, old and new causes uncontrollable muscle twitches. People with epilepsy, heart problems, other brain disorders or devices in the body, should avoid 3D movies, tv, games, etc. The new technology is worse.

Not that I think it will stop its growth, but globally the health issues will keep the prices high and the growth slow.

3D is surely the future and it will sell like hot cakes. It might be a golden time in porn, again. Lately there have been even sport events shot in 3D and people who saw them loved it, they felt like beeing on the field!

I think this is well put. People always want the latest and greatest. If you just sit on the side lines and do nothing or wait for the "better" thing to come out....then you will be still sitting your chair watching porn on your computer screen while the rest of us are actually IN the part of the action with some teleporting system of sorts. Hell, I actually tried this philosophy with MP3 player....didn't think they would be worth shit until I was the only one rocking a CD Player with headphones at the gym...(Not sure if I will EVER live that one down):thumbsup

ready made 3d cameras are not for sale yet but you can buy special rigs or build one to shoot it

I sort of agree with this statement and I worked with 3D Technology more than 30 years ago so I do have some experience .
In the UK while working towards my PHD in Advance Laser Technology I worked for a company that produced 3D still advertising using lenticular screens ( no glasses needed ) The 3D effect was amazing with no side effects for viewers with epilepsy. After 3 years we managed to make images move within the still picture, using just a plastic lenticular screen glued to the picture. Sadly the company i worked for lost it's funding just as we started to make projectable 3D videos (No glasses required ) I still have the worlds first 3D naked model that i shot around 1972 ( maybe worth a cool million on ebay ? :1orglaugh )

Avatar was a good film but in my opinion the so called 3D effects did nothing to enhance it and im sure it would have been a success without. The 3D Effect in "Clash" ( I worked on the original with Ray Harryhausen) was better than Avatar but still not mind blowing. If you guys want to see good 3D take a look at Samsungs new 3D TV's, watch one of Pixars monsters movies, the effects are truly out of this world, a thousand times better than the theater version of 3D. You still have to use glasses but these are not the normal red green cheap crap, these use a more advance shutter technology, but you have to see the results and judge for yourself.

Samsungs technology is supposed to be able to turn other movies into 3D, I dont know how true or effective it is but that would mean any std video would be viewable as a 3D experience, so all porn on the web now could be viewed as 3D using their TV's without us, the producer paying out $$$$$ for special equipment ?

Those glasses cost in excess of $150 a pair. You'd also need a 3-D monitor.
