Deceased Candidate Elected Mayor In Tennessee
:Oh crap:Oh crap:Oh crap
Tracy City, TN, United States - The citizens of Tracy City, TN, elected Carl Robin Geary mayor by a lopsided vote because they felt he had a sense of the pulse of the community. Even though he no longer had one. Residents elected Carl Robin Geary over incumbent Barbara Brock by a vote of 268 to 85. Brock took office a year ago following the death of the previous mayor. Geary died suddenly a few weeks ago, according to Donna Basham, administrator of the Grundy County Election Commission. Despite his death being reported, Geary still managed to win the election posthumously. The city council will appoint a mayor to serve his four-year term, according to officials :winkwink::winkwink: Gotta love the voters! |
Some of my family is from Grundy County.. greutli-laager to be exact :\
|
The voters knew he was dead!
They just knew that even dead he was still better than the other guy. |

That happened to john ashcroft he lost an election to a dead man
|
Not surprising. Many longtime candidates win reelection almost on autopilot. It's all about name recognition in many "safe" districts. Republican or Democrat, it doesn't matter.
|
:1orglaugh that says a lot about the other living candidate.
|
I guess it would be illegal election-rigging to have hung up a sign that says "candidate A is dead"? lol wtf
"When asked how she felt about losing to someone who died, Brock said "I'll live."" Best quote ever. |
