installing and running WordPress

hey guys haven't posted anything in awhile. All my posts have led me to start with wordpress to build a small blog to try to get my start in this business. I have another question and that is how do i use wordpress with WAMP. is there a specific WP folder i need to drop into WAMP's WWW folder? I am very new to this so don't be afraid to be as detailed as possible.

thanks

What is it that you're going to do with WAMP? You can't run a web server from home. Well, technically you can but it's never a good idea. If you're just doing this for dev purposes then you should be able to install wordpress into the /htdocs directory like you would any other server.

Use a good hosting cie with a Cpanel dashboard. Can install WP in a click using Fantastico interface.

If it's just for home testing the yeah drop the wordpress in the WWW

DO this:

go to the www and make a new folder and give it a name of your site: example: teeniesinaction

Unzip your downloaded version: Wordpress2.1.8 (or something like that) and when unzip has finished double click on the folder and double click again. Then you will see the WP content.
Copy that content over to your new folder in wamp/www
Then all you have to do is go to 127.0.0.1/nameofsite/ and click enter....the rest is setting it all up in the interface of wordpress

Good luck noob :1orglaugh
