I'm a lifelong LA fan but Canucks have still been the better team. As much as I hate to say it, it's still Vancouver's series to lose.

Btw, I've been saying it for years and still do - Luongo is the most overrated goalie in the NHL. I was worried big time when they made the switch during the Olympics. Fleury should've been the goalie from the first game. He's only beat the Caps and Red Wings in game 7s lately - the latter the Stanley Cup final. Until the gold medal game, what had Roberto won lately??

Loch 04-19-2010 11:57 PM

leave it up to a bunch of canucks to loose their own game :Oh crap

it's the foreigners hauling us down, we already proved what we needed to when we smashed out an olympic gold :2 cents:

JuiceMonkey 04-20-2010 02:05 AM

worst call I've seen *all* year on that sedin goal.. unreal how the refs are just handing this series to the kings...

Mutt 04-20-2010 03:04 AM

Kings are on the rise - Drew Doughty is my favorite NHL player, best young defenceman I've seen in forever. He was also the BEST player on Canada's Olympic team in Vancouver.

great times ahead for the hockey fans of Southern California - not many of them i know but those who love hockey there really do love it.

CDSmith 04-20-2010 06:27 AM

This has been a very entertaining series so far. Hard for me to pick a side as I like both teams right now for varying reasons so no matter who wins I won't be heartbroken.

Looking forward to game 4.

cwd 04-20-2010 07:18 AM

the Kings, Aves and Coyotes are bringing so much energy to their series, fun to watch...even though I am a Canucks fan...

Far-L 04-20-2010 08:42 AM

Looked kicked in from every angle they showed in playback. Even if they let it slide the Canucks still were going down, imo.

he made one mistake..

its the Sedins who need to step it up.. they need the protection necessary to get set up and make the plays.. they also need to settle the fuck down.. 10 blocked shots?

No way that puck was kicked in. You've been smoking way too much of Seattle's finest.
But they were going down anyway. Luongo is just not a good enough goalie to take the Canucks all the way. He lost that game for them. The only thing that saved him in the Olympics, was one of the best hockey teams ever to lace up skates.

BradM 04-20-2010 09:03 AM

What did I tell you on ICQ? :)

That pucked was kicked in, intentional or unintentional. I spoke to an official from the NHL after the game, and the reason they say kicking motion is his toe was lifted upwards and foot going foward... hence a kicking motion, hence no goal. Just as the rules say, same as you only allowed 5 skaters on the ice not 6.. hence the too many men penalty in OT.
Maybe Canadians live by a different set of rules. Maybe if Luongo could stop a beachball, theyd be ahead in this series. Stop whining.

Joxxy 04-20-2010 09:39 AM

I was at Staples last night; it was craazy. "Zus" and Jack Johnson were awesome last night. It was fun chanting "Luuuu ooonnn go"!

Its just a game .. relax.. I realise you have an opinion but seriously, you are talking silly talk. The commentators and veterans who have LIVED hockey for over a decade agree it should have been a goal. As far as the insulting of canadians and the canucks, grow up. There are many americans on the canucks and many canadians on the kings. This isn't canada vs usa ( canada already won that battle )

Doesn't really matter what the commentators and veterans have to say seeing as the people that make the rules said no goal. :)

Redmanthatcould 04-20-2010 10:58 AM

It was an awesome game! That was the first time I've been to a Kings game in a LONG time where the fans were behind the team the entire game. We had some Canucks fans in our section that were mouthing off and then got shut the fuck up by multiple Kings fans ready to kill them. The Canuck fans intelligently left the game early.

I thought the disallowed goal could have gone either way, but as it was taking them forever to make the decision, I knew it was gonna go in the Kings favor. But that's not what lost the Canucks the game, they just never sustained much pressure in the third other than when they had 6 on 4 with two minutes left.

If Handzus wasn't celebrating during OT of the first game, while Luongo swept that puck off the goal line, this would be a 3-0 series.

Chill buddy....its just an opinion. Maybe Canadians make the rules. Hell....I don't know. You gotta learn not to whine so loudly when you get upset. You prolly cry louder when you lose.

BTW, "we" didn't do anything..."they" did. Unless you play for the Kings or in anyway helped them win the game apart from buying their jersey or something.

Every fan speaks that way, myself included, and I'm sure that's not the first time you've seen that.

And if you want to get technical, without the fans paying for their seats, their teams wouldn't be able to afford their players. On top of that, players regularly talk about help from fans cheering them on at home. So yes...WE won.

I have no love for the Canucks. In fact, seeing LA go deep would be cool as it happens so rarely.

The Western Conference is pretty lop-sided right now too. Teams that should be in control are struggling. I REALLY want Phoenix to kick Detroit's ass!!!

Doesn't matter to what ? My point was , seasoned veterans of the game and commentators ALL said it should have been a goal. So if you say " it clearly wasn't a goal" , my reply is everyone who has actually played hockey for years and years thought it was, amacontent suggested "canadians" have a different set of rules ( despite the fact all the seasoned american veterans also thought it was a goal and despite the fact the decision came down to a canadian who obviously didn't follow amacontents canadian rules )

At the end of the day all that matters is the score and how you played the game. The kings won and they played a better game.

CDSmith 04-21-2010 09:16 AM

I hear people are calling for Luongo to step down as team captain.

I think even Don Cherry might have said it.

Yeah he did. Really it makes no sense to have Luongo as the captain anyway. Added pressure maybe. The real problem to me is not having the captain on the bench to rally the troops when they need a kick in the ass. Or to get in the ref's ear when its time for a momentum change etc.

weekly 04-21-2010 12:19 PM

Luongo doesn't have the right stuff to go all the way. He is the weak link.
