Android users, what's some of your favorite apps?

I've had my new phone running android for about 2weeks now and looking to add some more apps, which so far are Google Star Map and ScannerBuddy are my favorites. What are some of yours? :thumbsup

ProG 04-20-2010 03:37 PM

Make sure you get Advanced Task Killer. Unclosed apps will start to pile up.

MaDalton 04-20-2010 04:25 PM

i hardly use any - but Google Maps has proven to be very helpful already a couple of times. and then there's "beercounter" who helps me to keep track how much i drank last night - lol

KingNigel 04-20-2010 05:06 PM

Google Maps.

bronco67 04-20-2010 08:01 PM

Not really an app, I guess, but my google navigation got me out of some woods when I got lost hiking this weekend. True story.

Ok, I wasn't that lost, but it got pretty tense because my wife had to take a shit, and she refused to dump in the woods.

Swype is the coolest thing I have installed on any phone ever.

I like Swype alot. I still perfer to have a full keyboard. I've got a G1 and word from Tmobile is they aren't going to continue the series. :(

Kinda bummed my next phone might not have a full keyboard but Swype makes using the touch screen more tollerable.

No use for ATK, bogus app. Android is written to kill apps as resources are running low.

I can't wait to become an Android user with Sprint's new HTC Evo 4G smartphone coming this summer!

Jon Oso 04-20-2010 09:16 PM

Mike Tyson soundboard.

When I get emails he yells "I'll fuck you til you love me, faggot!" and when my ex calls me I hear "Can I at least get a blowjob?"

Funniest shit ever.

Other than that, the Googlemaps app that comes with the phone I think. Pandora is the only other one I regularly use.

4G FUcking sweeeet ass! I will wait for a 4g with a keyboard though.... staying with my Moment.

The absolute best game for Android if you like tower defense games is.... Robo Defense
I also use the Nintendo Emulator to play duck hunt and Mario, a few other games here and there but definitely those....

MOST USEFUL APP! Moment Flash, I think it works for a few others but it turns on the flash on your camera and keeps it on so you can use it as a flashlight... works better than the ones that just leave your screen on AND uses less battery power. Great when you are drunk and you drop your car keys in the grass and its like 1am!

2MuchMark 04-20-2010 10:24 PM

iPhone emulator?

We don't have Android sets available here yet but reading about the Where and Star Map functions makes me want to get one. Can't wait. It usually takes a 1 year or 2 (That's how long it took the iPhone to get here). By get here I mean as part of a telco plan.

Tried them all (I think there are three others now too) and Swype is the shit. None of the others come close, but that's just my opinion.

I'm already saving my pennies, even though I just got a new phone a few months back. :1orglaugh

Even the new rumored, new iPhone won't be keeping up with the EVO.

I would imagine there are a few of them out there that could be hacked to work on the carriers in your area. The independent development community for HTC phones is pretty big and pretty active. If it's possible, I guarantee you it's already being done.

The only app I have kept (ive deleted all others), is the weather app. I use the default messaging, phone, gmail, fb, etc apps.

I almost got the Moment a couple of months back because I like the physical keyboard. But with the announcement of the HTC EVO, I don't think it makes sense to get a more limited phone. I am hoping to get used to the virtual keyboard and enjoy the new features. Who knows, by late 2010 or 2011 they probably will have an even more advanced smart phone with a physical keyboard.

I wasn't aware of that. Thanks.

The chick at Verizon told me to download it when i got the phone. maybe its some kind of spyware.

Hardcore J 04-21-2010 03:12 PM

Auto Ring is really bad ass for setting a white list of people who will ring even when the phone is on vibrator or silent

PDANet is junk. Root your phone and turn your phone into an actual Wifi hotspot.

I generally don't use too many Apps on my Droid as the OS is very slow, way under powered - MyTouch - I'm on my second phone, think the phone is a POS. :1orglaugh

Cherry R Player - Amazing, streaming music Icecast, Shoutcast..ect Blows any music app out of the water, I thought Pandora was good, I never get buffering issues and there are literally thousands of music stations.

Spare Parts
Spare Parts allow you to enable some of the settings that are not found in the default setting menu. So sum it up you can speed the animation on your phone, it helps with my slow OS.

Chase Bank

Visual Voicemail

UnUnited 04-21-2010 06:17 PM

Handcent SMS - Better text messaging , can look exactly like iphone texting
PDAnet - Tether your phone for internet , I paid the $18 dollars and it works great
Scan2PDF- Scan and email documents as PDF threw email with the Camera ( cam is good enough that it actually works good)
