Summer "Internext"? No... it's the AVN Show :thumbsup

http://business.avn.com/articles/37850.html

CHATSWORTH, Calif.?It has been under wraps for months and the subject of endless speculation. Now, as the buzz within the adult entertainment community reaches critical mass, AVN has announced its launch of a completely new industry event called The AVN Show, slated to debut in August at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood, Fla.

Scheduled around the same time that AVN?s Internext summer show usually takes place, The AVN Show promises to offer its attendees something totally unique and very different than any other industry show.

Nothing is different, now if a show had forced speed networking THAT would be a bloody riot and actually get people like myself to go!

Who gives a shit about hanging out, watching dumb models get stupid drunk and listen to how successful people are "or wish they were"

/Rant lol

LAJ 04-21-2010 09:03 PM

Looks awesome AVN!

You can count on YNOTs full support.

Theo 04-21-2010 09:04 PM

Loch, AVN Show is going to be all about business. We are in the process of building the schedule of the events and we'll update you on weekly basis for the next 3 months. Everything is going to be a different, have some faith ;-)

I was not speaking of AVN as such, but shows in general.

But seriously all shows are more or less the same, same formula etc etc
Sure if i lived in the area i would go but usually i dont and unless i know i can make 10k pr day going im not going to bother.

Now put me on a deserted island with industry Vets and leaders and im all yours, but until then i can honestly say that i dont know a single person that attends shows for the sake of business, fun maybe but not business.

TheAmericanCannibal 04-21-2010 09:41 PM

"The Gong Show" was taken eh Chris?
LOL

J/K

Nice way to help push that brand even further.:pimp

Loch 04-21-2010 09:43 PM

Give me a show where the ticket price is $5,000 and an all inclusive island for 3 days.
Not THAT would be interesting!

The AVN Show will cater to all market segments equally, but each with a unique twist. Traditional sectors such as content and production, novelty manufacturing and sales, and internet commerce will be joined by product distribution, retailer concerns and emerging technologies:thumbsup

So it will be a summer mixversion of AEE and Internext right? Good Idea :thumbsup

Dude....pay attention: One is called "internext" and one is called "AVN Show"

Sorry for this person's foolishness Chris. :1orglaugh

In all seriousness...that looks pretty damn cool.

What about the Vegas show? Is that going to integrate with the AEE? Or is it in for some changes as a stand-alone show?

KillerK 04-22-2010 12:09 AM

I predict it's a waste of time to attend if you want to do business.

Go for Fun, that's what the shows are all about nowdays.

Hey Loch,

Do you think enough people (besides yourself) would be interested in such an event?

Just curious.

Let me sort of quote that, Island Gathering still 'owe' money to people who booked hotels and everything. Good Example :)

Agreed. Change the name if you want, but leaving it in FL in August keeps it the one show I will never attend.

alexchechs 04-22-2010 08:20 AM

We'll be there... see you then Chris

Humidity keeps you away? :upsidedow

It's more than an name change, baddog. It's a true convention that (for the first time) will bring Internet, Novelty, Content, Retail, Technology, and Production to the same "table". The hub of the show will be the panels with a concentration on technology, including a Technology Pavilion where we're aiming to bring 10-15 tech companies who are not in adult (at present). Obviously, more information will be forthcoming once it becomes available.

This isn't going to be the same old same old.

PornMySex 04-22-2010 09:18 AM

I'm an affiliate I used to go to internext miami back in the days. Nowadays there are only sales rep going to those events ( and some owners ). You see a drop of affiliates going to show, not because you might think there are less full time affiliates than before, but because there is no interest for us going to those shows ( Please don't tell me about the useless conferences for experienced affiliates ). And many sales rep are also going to these show to find/meet affiliates. I think it will be less crowded every year.

After this show you will make a thread asking what you could improve in your show. Affiliates will give you advices, but the next year you won't take note of what they said.

Agree 100%. Fewer parties and activities now for sure. Business is the only reason I would say most people attend shows now adays.

I still attend shows because there is always B2B business to be done, but I would love to see some more webmasters / affiliates come back to these events. I don't work for AVN or Xbiz, but as someone who has been an exhibitor / sponsor of some of these events and seen the webmaster attendance die down, I'd love to hear your opinion on why you feel aflliates and webmasters have stopped attending?

Elli 04-22-2010 10:07 AM

Looks like positive changes! I'm looking forward to seeing the results!

Hey man...I got to say there have always only been a very small percentage of affiliates who actually kick ass. Both then and now. The first show I attended was one in Miami (pre-internext) in 1998. And even then there weren't a whole lot of "real" affiliates. Matter of fact it was mostly companies like Pornholio selling feeds, hosting companies, and content companies.

One of the memories I have is me, AL4A, and Patrick (the hun) sitting all alone at the lobby bar while everyone was outside for the Pornholio wet t-shirt contest.

How many affiliates with REAL traffic (not "seo gurus" sending google traffic or buying ad words), but REAL traffic that they have coming from their own branded sites exist anyway?

Not many. Just the same guys that had it then. And these days we don't have as much traffic as we used to thanks to sites like Pornhub and the like (who can blame the surfer? A choice between looking at hosted galleries or seeing full scenes)

The reality for us as affiliates is this: We don't have as much traffic. A single deal cut between program owners can get 10 times the amount of traffic and 100 times the amount of joins than you or I could ever send.

So...do you just sit home while the industry passes you by? HELL NO.

Even though the shows are much smaller now because sponsors can't afford to do much these days...I have still made a LOT of money at them. And just like it was 12 years ago, it is today: Most of the money...the REAL money is made at the parties. NOT the "seminars" or "conferences". I've literally made 7 figures at 3 in the morning at parties.

That is where you get things done. Not saying that things don't get done at the stuffy "business" parts of the convention...but lots more gets done at parties than outsiders who haven't been to many shows realize.

Joanna Angel 04-22-2010 10:58 AM

I will be there! I will also be at the Xbiz show in June.

That's one of the reasons that I never go to this one. Too damn muggy. Not to mention that Ft Liqourdale is boring. Have this bitch in South Beach and I might have to over look the weather and kick it old school on the beach for 4 days. That I could deal with.

:thumbsup

Still good luck to AVN. Seems like Chris and Soul are trying to do some good there. At least AVN hires Internet people now. :thumbsup

You would not need a lot that is my whole point.
Lets be honest here, putting on shows is a business like any other and you are trying to sell as many tickets as humanly possible to make a profit.

However you are missing out on the company owners that are sick and tired going as they have to sort through thousands of people or just meet "buds"

Someone should structure a new business plan around getting the crowd that would be interested in ONLY meeting 6 figure a year clients.
