iPhone and AT&T and Data connections
 

Is it possible to connect your desktop's internet access thru your iPhone on AT&T's network? I've been told that AT&T doesn't do it on the iPhones like they do with Palm. Who knows facts?

Not exactly sure of your question but I do connect to my cable modem through my wireless router to my iphone.

If you add "tethering" to your AT&T data plan you should be able to.

you have to jailbreak your iphone then download an app which allows you to tether your iphone to your computer so you can browse using iphones ATT 3g

What you ask is probably can be an iphone used as a modem to access to teh internet via its ATT network. I guess not, it doesnt have built in modem.

you can use your iphone as a modem.. its uses the data functionality of the network just like you would use connecting to websites with a browser (in your iphone).

tethering a laptop or computer to it, YES. However, AT&T released a firmware update to stop a good hack (phone profile) many people were using to use a NON-jailbroken iphone as a modem. Now, it may be possible with a jailbroken phone only. I was connecting my macbook to the phone and getting pretty good 3G speed before at&t fucked it up.
