Watched it the other day, saw it was free online figured i'd share.
I also hear "The world according to Monsanto" is a good one and will watch that one next. Who do some people have to be such poo poo heads in this world. Watch the movie here. |
Sweet thanks. Have been meaning to watch this, might make a garden seem that much better. Next, I'll be running free range chickens =p.

It sucks when food poisoning happens. That's the truth.

2 reasons: 1) Sugar import tariffs the government has in place to "protect" domestic sugar production. This makes sugar much more expensive than it would be if market forces set the price. 2) Corn subsidies the government has in place to "protect" farmers (in reality a few huge companies) makes corn much cheaper than it otherwise would be if market forces set the price. And as a result of this "protection" the government has destroyed the health of an entire generation of Americans. |

I take the contrarian view. I live in a country with abysmally low agri yields. One of the greatest things, in my view, about America is its stunning ability to feed its people. Low food prices, amazing infrastructure (from farm to postharvest facility to distribution to retail to consumer), and economy of scope and scale that provides a decent living to most of its farmers.
I know the grass is always greener and I *am* familiar with the issues posed by modern factory farming and chemical-dependent agribusiness. Still, just judging from my last visit to family friends in the provinces here in the Philippines struggling to eke out $50 worth of produce from a veggie plot month after month, I can only look with awed envy at American farmers' ability to feed the US. |
