Content Shooters
Which one of yall shooters are making over 10kusd month? Ifso, how w/ the economy..
|
lmao, this should be good. I predict lots of bullshit flying around when the per usual GFY "content shooters" respond!
|
I don't make anywhere near that... Like, not even close.

what does "make" mean? revenue? profit? company? personal? before tax? after tax?
let's say: we have done better in the past on the exclusive stuff, but non-exclusive is doing very well. and i have updates for the next 3 years without having to spend one cent on new productions i don't complain PS: see http://www.gfy.com/fucking-around-and-business-discussion/965354-finally-exgf-packages-video-pics.html ;) |
I don't see/read shooters complaining...

Some have opted to go the webmaster route, others have started shooting for others, some have went from exclusive to non or semi exclusive, and broadened their company base. I have also noticed more providing their content in ready made sites they sell off. |

Production is not down for the handful of really talented producers who consistently do good work. I have been in the biz since 1991 and an award winning porn director since 1993. Last year, 2009, was my best & busiest year ever and 2010 is shaping up to be even more so. It's taken me a long time to build my reputation and skills to this point and create a style and train my crew and develop resources to deliver quality work with fresh American girls from teens to MILFs. I am working hard and smart and making the most of every opportunity from filming exclusive content for some of the biggest affiliate programs and DVD movies for porn studios, plus licensing non-exclusive Ex-GF style amateur content, and monetizing my own content on a few web sites and clip stores, and with studio residuals from DVD sales and VOD, and other avenues. Plus I do special projects like interactive flash applications & informercials and instructional DVDs for adult and mainstream companies looking for R rated entertainment. I even do some webmastering and have some affiliate income, plus consult & do post production work for clients looking to bridge the offline and online adult business world or for startups getting into the adult business.

I make around 25 grand a month shooting content...But I only shoot for Claudia-Marie.Com :pimp
|
What exactly do you mean by Content Shooter, someone that only produces for others? As Robbie mentioned there's producers that make that or much more producing for themselves.
See sig. |

I can tell those of you who don't know how things work...The biggest companies like Brazzers, Naughty America, etc. don't buy content. They have an in-house crew. A vid cam guy/director/producer and a still camera guy, and the assorted monkeys that do the grunt work (why on earth they spend money on a PM and a "lighting and sound guy" is beyond me...in reality ONE person can take the stills and do vid and no need for the extra guys or girls) And that in-house crew shoots 3 to 4 scenes a day 5 days a week and they are on salary. And that salary ain't nowhere near 10 grand a month. Then there are guys like Jim Gunn out there shooting content. I have no idea what he makes or who his clients are so I don't presume to speak for him. I'm sure times are tougher now than before piracy happened. If for nothing else because there aren't as many clients now with the budgets they had before. Does he make ten grand a month at this moment in time? I don't know. In his business maintaining a steady income is tough. It's a buyers market right now. But for all I know he just might be making a lot more than that. He's been around a while. And the longer you're around, the more tricks you learn to survive. |

Making yes, profiting, no.
|
Was making that easily 2/3 years ago. With the demise of the magazine market and our health problems it's been cut back but still making $10k a month from content.

That's really not much.
I stopped selling scenes as of last year but 10k would be 5 - 6 scenes (shot in Asia - not the USA or EU). We were shooting 2 - 3 scenes a day. Of course that was a year ago and I've since stopped selling content, but even with the current market that could still be made with ease. Even with companies dying, many will still pay up for exclusive or hard to get content and those who do need to lower their price can find someone else to take the risk. But, even if you sold cheaper, you could still make that within a week if you wanted to. The trick is having content people want. It doesn't have to be "the best" or in HD, it just has to sell. :2 cents: |

If the content sells, there will always be buyers. |
My stuff is exclusive, as are my models. not making 10k per month. Shit guys, if I was, I would leave today and just travel the U.S. shooting fetish shoots and beautiful women. I think with some people, hearing all of this success true or not, just makes us smaller producers just that much more hungry to do our concepts and strive.
Although I would say for the smaller producers, that if we have been in the game 4 years or longer, it's pretty much a labor of love anyway and money, fame, etc, are all just great ends for hard work imho. Adult in 2010 is mos def not for the non motivated sort. |

I would think if you actually sold your content to others, you could make that. However, I don't know what your overhead is. |
...shit guys, when i started out in 2001, i was shooting girls, pawning my camera to make rent, getting it out in 3 weeks, shooting girls, repeat.
Thank God I don't have to do that for awhile now, only through adversity, will you ever see where the true passions of yourself lies. I am not making a ton, but I am launching, tweaking, building and expanding, listening to advice. I believe and will take the pepsi challenge to anything once my concepts are done. Because I believe I am building the slickest adult directories out there. And energy mos def has power. In the end, there has to be something more to come into this game, you can't do shit that looks like everyone elses and expect to make serious $$$. You have to have a passion for perversion, a love for the perverse or both. You have to understand it, see the beauty in it to convert it, period. But when I do make it, I will never be an asshole, always listen to my niche and still strive even more to live vicariously through their eyes :2 cents: |

Randy West once told me, "Shoot what you like to jerk off to and your market will find you." Anytime I've strayed from that simple concept, I didn't do as well. When I stick true to that, I make a lot of money. Go figure. |

I only shoot content that appeals to me personally. I do not deviate from it. I have always made money on it. First run on pay sites and clip stores, and later on licensing. Your passion comes through in the end product, and people/consumer will always buy it. Especially in niche markets. |

I have noticed a lot of content shooters getting out of the game here in Eastern Europe. Most just can't find the work like they used to and the demise of the magazines. Agents are finding it tough as well.

That's not the same story I've been getting. I've been booking LA agency girls at discounted rates for the last 6 months. |

In the US the demise of the magazines happened in like 2005. :2 cents:

I made over 10k this month :2 cents: Im shooting almost every day right now :) I have over 5 k in bills and my roomate moved out so I have no choice but to hustle. I laugh when I hear shooters say they have no reason to go to the shows. 2 words my friends. SPEED NETWORKING. Last summer was a constant struggle to make the 5k a month. I guess being in LA over a year is finally paying off for me.

I love and miss L.A. I don't even call it L.A. anymore, I call it "Candyland"
