El Bulli I knew was the top one. My brother made the reservations 3 years ago, but the rest I didn't realize.....

damn i dont think i have eatten at any of them :helpme would be cool though to try each place on a different night to see what you thought was the best of the top 50...

They are only open a few months of the year and only take reservations on December 16th.

That's what my brother told me when we were there.... He is the UBER foodie...


It was a pretty amazing meal though..... like 23 courses, but each one was small and light.... all kinds of molecular deconstruction stuff...

I once ate at Le Bernardin (number 15) and it was one of the most amazing dining experiences ever. I have been dying to go to WD~50 with my girlfriend

I heard it's 25% better than WD-40.

I had some of those 20 odd course meals in Amsterdam, the problem with them is, if they are not well organized it drags on for hours, far past the enjoyment aspect of the meal:2 cents:

I have been wanting to eat at French Laundry but crazy waiting list and $1000+ per plate has been a deterrent.

It's not that much and there's no waiting list. You just call 90 days out.

The problem might have been Amsterdam ;) I have yet to meet a person that listed food as one of Amsterdams finer points.

I don't see Taco Bell on that list.

The problem wasnt as much as the food , which was quite good, but the spacing in between the courses was quite erratic. You would get bored and hungry between the selections. So when it came it would get wolfed down and then another long wait :2 cents:

Where's Red Robin? This list is fixed.

I ate there last July, and the friend who invited me got reservations only a month or so beforehand.

I have family in Modena, so I want to try #6) Osteria Francescana (Modena, Italy) when I'm out there this summer.

That seems rather silly: 1K per plate? Ridicolous.

I gotta get you to visit some Dutch Michelin star places.

I've seen quite a few shows featuring El Bulli. Looks like an incredible experience.

That is actually reasonable. What was the final bill and was it worth it?

It's $250/person now, plus gratuity, plus wine.

I took a chick over the summer, we bought two bottles of wine and total was like $800 and change.

When it comes to food everyone has their own tastes, and you can find great restaurants that are not popular that would never make a list like this. I bet you most of the places on this list will give you very small portions with a nice presentation. Being Italian I like to eat large portions...so when I go out to eat I expect to be given enough food to fill me up. When someone recommends a place to me the 1st thing I ask them is how big are the portions.

Never been to any of those but saw Bourdain eat at Momofuku on his show and it's been on my to do list ever since.

Also been wanting to stop at Morimotos in Philly. Didn't make the 50 best list but its been at the top of mine for a while.. just haven't had a reason to go to Philly. If I can combo it with a good show I can justify it, so someday.

I highly recommend you chek out Apicius in Bakkum.

Not crazy expensive, but top notch.

Wow, 5 yrs ago my buddy in Copenhagen had his wedding reception/dinner at Noma (ranked #1)

Funny thing is I don't recall the food being that out of this world or anything. I do vaguely remember getting pretty wasted and realizing Danish people are great drinkers but terrible dancers. ;-)

Neat stat: Tokyo has more Michelin 3 star restaurants than any other city in the world.

ha ha, a friend's brother works there and he told me about that waiting list and I thought he was lying. Weird thing is I've never understood how people knows they'll be in Barcelona on a certain date to eat an overpriced meal

I looked at the Danish restaurant Noma thats rated #1 and honestly there is not one thing on their menu I would eat.
