My guess would be the oil company to whom the rig belonged.

Buff 04-29-2010 03:57 PM

Notice that all the concerns about the spill from the former platform in the Gulf of Mexico is not for 11 men dead and 11 families ravaged, nor for a great economic loss and less petroleum for people, but over a possible dead fish or bird, or the water god offended. Oil is natural, organic, and biodegradable—if I may use greenspeak—and it will all go away. BP will clean up what does not. The Coast Guard-media hysteria is designed to advance the anti-human, eco-agenda. My view: Oil, oil, give us more oil.

I'm sorry, but just because it came from the Earth does not mean it will "just go away". Technically speaking, everything in the universe is "natural" since every single atom originated from exploding stars. You, me, plastic bottles, oil, tacos... all of it.

Oil & water do not mix. Where is the oil going to "go" to?

yeah birds, especially love that organic, natural oil.

Wizzo 04-29-2010 04:03 PM

That works for heavy oil not light sweet crude, which they are already using a dispersant agent similar and BP pays for it, not us. :winkwink:

kane 04-29-2010 04:08 PM

If you want to drill baby drill. . . you have to understand that sometimes you will spill baby spill. This spill is a perfect example of why we should not focus our efforts on drilling for more oil, but instead focus on developing other renewable cleaner forms of energy.

Fletch XXX 04-29-2010 04:11 PM

You wanna know what I hate most? Politicians are so fucking in the oil company pockets, this is our senators response, oh and she is Dem.

http://www.nola.com/politics/index.s...s_spill_s.html

Quote:

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., took to the Senate floor this afternoon to warn that the response to the deadly oil rig accident and spill shouldn't be to limit future off-shore drilling - as some environmental groups advocate.

While Landrieu said the spill is a major disaster and substantial threat to her state's coastlines and wildlife, at least the oil isn't the thick kind that caused substantial damage to the Santa Barbara, Calif., coastline in 1969, leading to an four-decade moratorium on drilling off the California and Florida coasts.

She said the federal government should spare no effort to find out the cause of the rig accident and make needed changes in regulations to assure "this never happens again."
you fucking whore, this will happen again, and again, and again...

beerptrol 04-29-2010 04:15 PM

They will just raise the price of gas to pay for it. They will say there's less of a supply since the rig stopped producing and a high demand and BAM...up jumps the price per gallon

and about a billion more.

BP will pay alright, a slap on the wrist and its business as usual. Mandatory death penalty should be instated for the CEO of any corporation which by negligence causes an environmental disaster.

I wholly agree 100%.

It's not like we got a spare planet to go chill on after we get through thoroughly fucking this one over.

RaiderCash_Dominik 04-29-2010 04:37 PM

I think BP is going to pickup that bill. Thats what I heard.

No doubt, and in the end the earth doesn't care if we live or die. It will be here long after humans are gone and maybe in the next evolutionary cycle they'll get it right, cuz shit is surely fucked up this time around.

Let's hope so. I can't imagine another species fucking things up worse than we have.

MaDalton 04-29-2010 04:49 PM

BP has just announced a 6,2 BILLION profit for the first quarter of 2010 - so thats probably pocket change for them. but still i have the feeling that they somehow make all of us pay for it - for example by raising the gas prices

The oil companies do not pay tax, the tax payers paid for their oil wars... Yeah, I think they can afford it.

you obviously have little understanding of what an eco-system is. or you do and you're just a selfish fuck who doesn't care until it directly effects you.

The clean up (right now) isn't the problem. The problem is turing the damn thing off. Who pays for it? BP in the tune of about 8 billion by the time it is all said and done. All of those insaine profits they make going down the drain, well more like into my backyard. The oil will be going into my main fishing area's over the next couple weeks. really sucks.

Gulf Coast oil spill could eclipse Exxon Valdez
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100430/..._rig_explosion

yes now the real news is surfacing when BP can't dodge it anymore. I love it how they always start out saying "well its leaking x barrels a day, which is bad." and in reality its 10 fold more fucked up...and they know it.

If Obama really wanted to do something he would look into serious criminal charges (at least major jail time) and forge new laws right now. heh, as if....

Face palm 2 here.

The liberals and conservationist might be more worried about the birds and shit. But what the locals are worried about is their livelyhood. Louisiana produces about 30% of the seafood consumed in the US. This oil spill could cause thousands of people to loses millions of dollars and not be able to make an income, lose their businesses etc... It's more economic than anything else.

you fucking whore, this will happen again, and again, and again...

Obviously you don't get it. She is not in the oil company's pocket. The production of oil and everything related to it is the only thing keeping this state from being bankrupt. If they stopped putting in new rigs or worse closed them down, this state would be in the same financial position as california. While this spill, which is the first time I can recall this ever happening here, will affect the seafood industry and cause us to lose revenue there, it is just a drop in the bucket to state revenue that would be lost if the oil went away.

You must not keep up with politics/govt much. The price of oil per barrel can make our break our state. When it drops below $50 a barrel for a long period of time the state loses ton of money and doesn't have enough for everything. Imagine if we stopped producing it all together .
