i need an experienced wordpress/rss person

helloooooooooo

So.. I'm having some trouble with a small handful of blogs - the RSS page is completely empty, like it's not spitting it out to the correct page.

Simultaneously, each of these sites (and these sites ONLY) keep encountering an error when attempting to create a sitemap xml for them.

Would anyone have any suggestions / experience with this specific type of problem and how to fix it?

$ offered if this is a complicated fix you know how to complete - if it's something simple though would appreciate suggestions.

Thanks

Free.. its more than likely 1 post that is fuckin you up. Either one that was a feed, or one you did on your own. Look at each post first and see if there are any that look off, and delete it, or change the date so it doesn't show up on the blog till in the future. Tedious, but that is probably the issue (or if you added any plugins recently)

Have you already tried setting the permalinks back to default, and back? disabling and reactivating plugins, and all the standard first attempt sort of shit? probably a plugin wreaking havoc on things.

Yeah changed permalinks back but didn't deactivate ... trying that now.

.......ok so one of the sites only has FWP & Askimet - deactivated both plugins, set permalinks back to normal, even put the original template back - still a blank RSS feed.

If this is how sticky describes and I have to comb through each post - I am going to shoot myself :)

you probably have a permissions issue, at least it sounds like that based on the sitemap.xml thing and the fact that it's happening on several blogs, not just one (hence, probably not a post or plugin fucking around). Make the sitemap.xml 755 or 777 (varies depending on your apache config) and it will work, I don't know about the RSS without seeing it, but just be sure to set permissions properly for your install.

Finally, use the default theme, create a post and see what happens. If it works, then it's your theme fault and probably some fix in the header

i'm tempted to say check the .htaccess permissions, but if permalinks are working fine from the dashboard, that wouldn't be it.

With Bcyber's suggestion I think I have narrowed it down to some of the feeds I am syndicating from sponsors causing issues. I removed pimproll feeds from one and BAM everything started working fine.

Moved to another that was having the same issues, but no Pimproll feeds; so going through the feeds finding out which one might be causing the issue...

One bad RSS fed post can fuck your whole blog up for sure. Especially Wordpress MU.

Thanks for the recommendation :thumbsup

It does sound like the issue is with a feed or two. Can't say for sure without getting hands-on, but I'm unavailable right now. I hope you find a resolution and/or someone who can assist you.

Did you remove all the posts created by that feed? If so its them fucking up your blog by putting something improper in the feed when it posts.
