The Scott Kelby books are great. He has three of them out.
Another one I enjoyed was 'The Moment It Clicks' - Joe McNally
http://www.amazon.com/Moment-Clicks-...2815247&sr=8-1

Other than that I'd recommend books dedicated to your specific model of camera.

So does mine.

Anyone want hints to taking pictures in this business can hit me up and I will give them a link to my message board on the subject. Don't want to break the rules and post a link.

Spend a couple days watching these... then practice what he says. THEN after you have mastered it, look into books etc to continue..

I find one of the best ways to learn is to look at images closely.
You can usually see hints of how the light was set up.

fris 05-02-2010 02:45 PM

I should say this is for taking pics in general, not nude photography

Spike D 05-02-2010 03:01 PM

He is not everyones cup of tea, but there is some great info to be found...

Shooting good nude photography is a gift or something that is learned over a long time of shooting and correcting your mistakes. Thinking you can just pick up a camera and shoot is going to get you into a lot of problems.

The basics depend on your skills with people, then a camera and finally the knowledge of the niche you shoot.

Models are people with all sorts of personalities, if you want the best out of them you need to be able to get their confidence and direct them.

Knowledge of a camera and lighting are essential in most cases except the amateur niche. When shooting that niche making the model appear amateur and willing is the key. Knowing how to light a scene in different settings is essential, knowing what your camera can do is also required.

Then knowing what to shoot comes into play. No matter how good you are with a camera and people if you don't know the niche you end up with bland porn. It's more about the sizzle than the steak. :winkwink:

I tried to hit you up on ICQ via your profile and found it did not work. I was going to give you the link to my forum. Don't want to post the link here as it's against the rules.

Maybe I should try a mega thread and post all the articles here. :)

Why would you devalue your forum's content like that? :error

The forum is inside my members area and I should stick it outside, one of those things that got put on hold after the last 2 years.

Anyway it would be helpful for people here.

And I don't have time to watch the forum for fucking spammers.

I'd be interested in giving it a read. Never can get too many different sources of input when it comes to this stuff.

Very true, we can all learn from each other.

Will start a thread and see how it goes.
