If you're criminal move to Norway
Norway Builds the World's Most Humane Prison
Ten years and 1.5 billion Norwegian kroner ($252 million) in the making, Halden is spread over 75 acres (30 hectares) of gently sloping forest in southeastern Norway. The facility boasts amenities like a sound studio, jogging trails and a freestanding two-bedroom house where inmates can host their families during overnight visits. Unlike many American prisons, the air isn't tinged with the smell of sweat and urine. Instead, the scent of orange sorbet emanates from the "kitchen laboratory" where inmates take cooking courses http://www.time.com/time/magazine/ar...00.html?hpt=T2 |
Yeah it sucks... a bit the same here and the elders have a half as good life as those bastards
|
Unbelievable.
:disgust |
Bad smells, that sucks. It really helps if it smells as clean as a washroom.

Does it work? If it works, it works.

Within two years of their release, 20% of Norway's prisoners end up back in jail. In the U.K. and the U.S., the figure hovers between 50% and 60%. Of course, a low level of criminality gives Norway a massive advantage. Its prison roll lists a mere 3,300, or 69 per 100,000 people, compared with 2.3 million in the U.S., or 753 per 100,000 ? the highest rate in the world. 1/11 the incarceration rate as America. 1/3 the recidivism rate. |
Maybe we should try that here.

shit they are living better then i am :1orglaugh

that is over the top, but as crazy as it sounds, look at the return rate. That does give you something to think about...
I'm curious how much % of those inmates are actually Norwegian? |
Nothing beats a Belgium prison. I highly recommend!
|
in USA its cheap workers side
|
Locking people in a cell with 1 hour of sunlight a day won't make them better people. On the contrary. Maybe the US should have a closer look at what Norway is doing. I don't know if such a prison can rehabilitate a person. But you only have to look at the prison industry in the US to see that something is going wrong in your country...

they also got PS3 in there
can you believe that? |
Norway Builds the World's Most Humane Prison
By William Lee Adams Monday, May. 10, 2010 I want a go of his time-machine. Locking people in a cell 23/34 just makes them used to being cooped up and treated badly. Out of the few people I know who have been in prison they found it very hard to adjust back to normal life once released and ending up back in prison seems an easy option if you need structure in your life. |
I'm not a criminal... can I just visit?
|
only failed criminals end in prison
