Having a great time in South Dakota (pics)
 

Yesterday we started our day off on the border of Iowa and South Dakota, in Sioux City. We had just entered my Holy Land when I joked with goodgirl that we should find a truck stop and dump Buddy, then find a bike to rent.

About an hour later we were approaching Sioux Falls and saw a billboard for a Harley dealer. We decided we would stop there to pick up a couple t-shirts. As luck would have it, they were having demo rides of the 2010 models. Even luckier was that the next tour was leaving in 15 minutes. I picked out a 103 c.i. Harley Limited and borrowed a couple helmets. Made for a great way to start the day.

Today we went to Wall Drug, Badlands National Park, and Mt Rushmore. It is beginning to snow around here, so I guess we will have to cut a diagonal across and down toward NoCal.

My absolute favorite place to drive through is SD. I drop the top and roll from their to the east side of montana with one hell of a sunburn ;) Thanks for sharing the pics.

No, Buddy has only chased a couple rabbits and one or two deer. He did have an altercation with a Canadian Lynx today though. Neither seemed to like the other.

A little different driving through the Black Hills than when Sturgis is going on huh. Well besides the damn road construction. We were up that way at least once the past three weeks.

It is windy enough that you do not even need to be on a bike to feel like you are "in the wind."

goodgirl called some places yesterday but got no answer anywhere, so we stayed at some dive. Custer is pretty dead this time of year. This morning while driving thru Custer State Park we came across some small cabins that would have rocked and would have been cheaper too. We may stay there when we come back in August.

Thanks. I am really appreciating the concept after months like April when we seemed to be constantly on the move.

Open letter to Harley-riding douchebags:


You morons drive down my street at 7am with your super-loud bikes, waking up the whole fucking neighborhood.

You claim that "Loud Pipes Save Lives", yet you're wearing a tiny little Nazi helmet and a t-shirt.

If you were really interested in safety, you'd be wearing a full face helmet and full-body leather like the guys on street bikes, but you won't because it's all about being SEEN.

You're a POSER, following a trend, and trying your hardest to be cool.

My only consolation is that most of you losers end up as road pizza, and there's nothing your tiny little POSER helmet can do for when you drop your bike.
