$999 for Photoshop CS5?
Jeez, no wonder everyone just steals it.
Adobe makes Microsoft look like a bunch of respectable businessmen. |

If its needed in your business and will make you money is 1k really too much? :winkwink: |
Adobe.Photoshop.CS5.Extended.v12.0.Incl.Keymaker-EMBRACE

I would buy it *IF* adobe gave fair pricing to europe. I remember from CS4, USA version online at adobe.com was like $699 or something, and any EU country (english version, same exact shit) was 999euro or something.
When i hit up thier support to ask what gives, they said its "because of the exchange rate". I'll just stick with my copy of CS2 that works perfectly fine for my needs. |
Worth every fucking penny.

edit: i mean an upgrade lol |
I'm sticking to cs4 for now
|
I use GIMP 2. it's free and good enough for my needs.

HINT : PIRATEBAY.Problem solved.All money stay in your pocket.whoa.
|
yeah the price is pretty crazy at first look... but knowing what other industries pay for software, it's really not that expensive. My father has some software for his dental lab and just the support/updates package is $1k for a year...

ps3 baby

Good for you for getting any use out of it, though :thumbsup |
I'll stick with CS3 for now. :)
|
ps3 is good enough
|
ps3 is excellent for work but you can download from any torrent or hacker site for free. Piratebay is the first place to find

High price implies a quality product.
I bet 95% of the people with CS5 + keygen on their computer don't use it more than twice as they only downloaded it because it was there. Its good strategy to get every artistic child using photoshop though as if they eventually end up in a graphic job they will use photoshop for it and a proper licence is very likely to get purchased. Still on CS2 here, cost me $AUD900 which at the time was about $USD600
It's overpriced but since it's the defacto standard it's worth it for most people. BTW... I know there's plenty of pirates on here, but could you guys be just a little more blatant? Thanks :winkwink: |

Stable platform, safe and everything is free. |
im one of those hypocrites selling porn legally (no pirated content etc) but download all my software for free.

Despite a lot of piracy of Adobe products, its the big corporations and major studios that pay for it. They're pricing reflects/targets these clients and not the small webmaster or independant designer.
My mother is a teacher, so I grab the education discount thru her education board which makes it $199 :) |
I use CS3 but I just dl'd Photoscape and it has some pretty neat features. :thumbsup
|
599.00 upgrade for me for the CS5 Design Premium.
|
My studio does not use pirate-ware of any kind.
Every single piece of software in use here is paid for & licensed, including the entire Adobe Suite. Will be upgrading to (Mac) CS5 here this week. |
Everything is free on the internet now...
. |
I seen it. Same as PS5.0. At least I dont use any new features.
|
yeah and good luck with the pirated copies and their "keygens".. I saw one that installs a virus instantly allowing the owner to access your computer and all contents. It installs an super-super hidden file in your windows/system32 dir called svchost.eve
It took Security Task Manager to find and delete it (run as Admin). |
MS Paint yo.
|
i can't believe there are people in here advocating stealing a product because it's more than they can afford when there are not only more affordable options, there are free options.

I use CS3, (and yes I paid for it :)). |
$999 might be 6 months earning of typical eastern Europe country citizen ...would he/her buy it or rather got Serial/Crack? Figure it out. I use original CS2 because it's one of my primary tools of work but 99% of people simply can't afford it and I don't blame them.

yah, i HAVE to go 250mph but i can't afford a bugatti veryon and am unwilling to work for nice things so i think i will go steal one, i'm entitled because i really want to go 250mph.
|
CS5 rocks. Bought it the first day it was released.

I don't blame anyone for not being able to afford something. The blame gets introduced when they use lack of money as an excuse to steal. I'd love to have a new yacht. Can't afford one right now. But, if I use your excuse, I can just go steal one instead. |
100% of us in this thread have used stolen software and all of us have purchased software, often the software we stole. If it wasn't Photoshop it was something else...
Adobe made hundreds of millions because of Piracy, without it Paint Shop Pro would be the leader. And for the 1 guy that hasn't ever pirated software... grats newbie. |
*adobe has profited off of pirated software* is an internet myth
|
Quote:
Piracy doesn't pay anything. Paint Shop Pro is not in the same league as Photoshop. And we're not just talking about the image editor, but usually the entire Adobe Suite. |

Shantanu sent me a brand new copy of CS6 last week. :)

Then the piracy started, Photoshop hit the piracy market shortly after Beta like no other software in History. It took about 3 years for Photoshop to crush the entire market... They didn't only crush them in sales, they crushed them by 1000x in users. When you have a reach that big, you get more sales than everyone, you get more of everything because it's what everyone is talking about. And it created a massive sub-market for products, like plugins and actions and 100k's of tutorial sites, spreading the brand. Piracy is also not perfect and not without bugs... Piracy is also the fastest and cheapest way in the world to reach the global market, and do it without every direct marketing anyone. |
It sounds expensive, but only because everyone on the internet is used to getting shit for free... any reasonably skilled designer can do one job and get that $1k investment back...
try doing the same running any offline business... :2 cents: |
