Which FTP software do you use with Ubunto 10.4 server 64 Bit? [OR LINUS in general]...

We are having new servers go up configured with Ubunto which we have been using for years in the office.

Which FTP software are you lads using and have had good experiences with?

We have ProFTPD on there now but im not 100% convinced that its stable enough at this point.

Comments?

ProFTPd here, it's been around forever, dunno what you mean by stable.

CuteFTP Pro.

Been using for years.

Ubunto? :1orglaugh

I use pure-ftpd.

GrouchyAdmin 05-03-2010 12:14 PM

sshd.

When that's not an option, I generally use vsftpd, proftpd if I need ACLs.

Just use SFTP/SCP. On Ubuntu Desktop, FileZilla.

Well i have noticed that when using ProFTPd as the server side demon it seems to drop connections once in a while.
Still testing though so was simply wondering.

it's 2010, why are people still sending passwords unencrypted?

I switched from ProFTPd long ago and haven't looked back after it started acting up and dropping connections. Pure-ftpd has not let me down since... this is on FreeBSD.

FileZilla

I've been using vsftpd forever, but pure-ftpd is a great choice too.

Is FileZilla up to date with the latest Ubuntu distro? I was using it on 8.0 with no problems...
