ok, so i eat it ... FF turned to a CPU hawg ... any other browser with neat PW storing and auto fill for forms? oh, and anyone suggesting IE will be shot on spot :thumbsup

mikke 05-03-2010 04:35 PM

use lynx :)

candyflip 05-03-2010 04:35 PM

Hasn't it always been a memory/cpu hog?

I use Chrome with Last Pass for filling forms and passwords.

Real webmasters use IE. Only shitty freeware fanboys like FF.

grmbl ... ok ... i installed chrome ... whats the rave about that pisspoor piece of shit? i cant even find the button to set my homepage ?! the whole thing looks like a pissy adlayer to me ... :helpme so, chrome doesnt seem to be an alternative to FF - at least for me ... input, I NEED INPUT :thumbsup

iSpyCams 05-03-2010 07:16 PM

As far as I am concerned FF has always been a memory hog, but I find if you keep less than 50 tabs open at once, install session manager (for easy session restore) and CLOSE THE DAMN THING once every 48 hours or so it behaves more or less.

i would think reg date would matter more than post count when determining who's the 'noob'?

Fletch XXX 05-03-2010 07:22 PM

Overload 05-03-2010 07:31 PM

ok, chrome seriously fucked me up BIG TIME ... it screwed up FF and hindered it from launching :( besides ... chrome looks like an ad layer ... really no alternative out there?

tiger 05-04-2010 12:07 AM

Only 500 mb? How did you get it optimized so well. Mine is usually at 800+ mb at least.

I really like FF but it has really turned into a bloated POS.

Kirby 05-04-2010 01:03 AM

get more RAM

ottopottomouse 05-04-2010 03:33 AM

mines at 600 with 8 tabs open but firefox seems to keep everywhere you have recently been still quickly available. Just remember to close it every now and then or buy some more ram.

V_RocKs 05-04-2010 04:29 AM

I upgraded to 6gigs so I can give 1.2 of them to FF..

seeandsee 05-04-2010 04:31 AM

FF is monster and will die in RAM

paymeback 05-04-2010 04:48 AM

15 tabs 150mb, I've heard some of the addons/plugins can add 100mb each fwiw maybe try uninstalling some you dont use

boneless 05-04-2010 04:59 AM

hmmmz, on average i got somewhere around 15-25 tabs open at any given moment, my mem usage never goes over 300mb.

You guys got a shitload of add-ons installed on ff?

yopu beat me to it, imho its the add-ons that cause it, when i installed ad blocker pro my ram usage shot up from around 120-180 mb to max 300mb

geedub 05-04-2010 07:19 AM

Seems like every new update on FF it gets to be a bigger CPU hog. I used to have alot of plugins, but now I try and run lean.
