Felon for Sheriff ........
Now I know NC is in the south and all but how the hell can they vote for a Felon for Sheriff? Hege was convicted in 2004 on two felony counts obstruction of justice, forcing him to resign as sheriff. ( turns out he was the biggest drug dealer in town ) Now he's going to run this year.

The best part is the comments below the article. It sounds like rhege36 is the guy's son. He's sitting there trying to defend him to everyone.

I don't get how he can run. Hege was well known for driving a spider car and for having the jail cells at the Davidson County Jail painted pink. He had a show on back in the 90's showing all the inmates I think it was courtTV

Joe Arpaio is a felon if I recall correctly. He's been a Sheriff in AZ for years.

You need a criminal mind to catch criminals.

It's so odd that someone with a Felony can't vote in some states but can run for office. Though felon disenfranchisement has been changed significantly over the years, the premise of allowing someone who is a convicted felon, tax evader or even a foreigner can hold office and set policy in this country is very disconcerting.

That makes no sense. Maybe he can run but there has to be a law that would not allow a Felon to be elected:2 cents:

It has to do with the laws in NC. There is a bill (Senate Bill 351, No Felon as Sheriff) that, if it makes it through state govt, will be on your ballot in November. Vote for it if you do not want a felon as sheriff.

STEPS FOR FORMER FELONS
If you are convicted of a felony in North Carolina, you lose your citizenship rights, including the right to vote. However, after completing all terms of your sentence (including parole, probation and restitution), you do not have to do anything to have your citizenship rights, including your voting rights, restored. Those rights are automatically restored. Wow I didn't know all that. |

back to cops, I assume everyone of them is a felon nd will act like one when they pull you over.
as i always say: my uncles were 1% bikers (outlaws) and they always told me you can trust a biker more than a cop and thats been true forever. Cps are on the opposing team. |
