Doing business with women

Wow.. All too often when doing business with a woman I manage to accidentally offend them when not carefully picking my words about something, which would never ever upset a guy.. but women yes and then they just no longer want to do business/work for me.

Very annoying to have to deal with them so differently to men even when doing business and nothing personal is intended. And when you don't know that the person you're doing business with on the internet is a woman.. you can't even adapt to that.

Anyone else had such problems?

sicone 05-05-2010 03:18 AM

Nope, I know how to deal with bitches

TrainWreckContent 05-05-2010 03:25 AM

I never had problems working with guys or girls :2 cents:

Davy 05-05-2010 03:31 AM

The thread title is already offensive...

TeenCat 05-05-2010 03:41 AM

if you are doing business with woman, not with bitch, you can be almost sure that everything will be fine ... :2 cents:

Lightning 05-05-2010 03:44 AM

I never really had that proble myself, as I always try to be polite and professional.:2 cents:

Some women are very sensitive about "something", do not expect them to act like men do.

Fletch XXX 05-05-2010 04:44 AM

fact is most people in this biz do not handle emails and correspondence like professional thats whats up. I deal with female clients every week, and there money is as green as a guys. Yes they have different quirks regarding things in designs, (have had some odd requests) but if you talk like a professional in client exchanges you wont have problems.

For example: dont flirt, do your business, I work with a lot of solo girls and its flirting and shit that separate businessmen from suitcase wannabepimps

I would be rich if I had a penny for every time I have been victim to the rantings of a female Affiliate Support / Manager Rep. who is obviously upset at the world because she wants to be so much like the Porn Stars, but knows it will never happen. For some reason, they feel as though they have become a star also and therefore should be treated like one.

I have also made some wonderful friendships with selfless Ladies who are extremely well balanced and professional, and make up for the other idiots.

Nikitos 05-05-2010 05:24 AM

I have never had such problems with women that are real professionals:)

here's the thing: I deal with lots of vendors and sales people. the men are easier to deal with and will do more 'courtesy' type stuff when making a sale than a woman. the women seem to think busting balls is how you be a man, it's not. it's about friendly, courtesy and little things in the sales relationship... like having the shop guy meet your gaffer at the loading dock, not having the poor guy wandering all over the shop looking for my repairs.... that's the difference. I see it time and time again..

Tam 05-05-2010 06:13 AM

All I have to say is that you men are working with the wrong women.... :1orglaugh

I have been in this industry for more than 10 years and more often than not, most of you don't even kn ow I am a female until much later in the business relationship.... simply because I don't feel the need to announce it. Maybe I am doing it wrong? Who knows. :Oh crap

lmao

cthulhu_waves 05-05-2010 06:35 AM

There are good people to work with and then there are those who don't. As a female working in this business, I must say that I have a preference working with guys.

Even though most can be assholes and pricks, I have no problems determining whether the guy would be a good fir or not.

Men usually say what they mean and mean what they say.

They tend to work with you if you need help with no hangups. Other women would make you feel that you're doing them a favor. Men have no problems teaching you about new things, while women expect you to deal with things yourself (even if you ask assistance).

Women tend to micromanage, which s good, but experience tells me that female clients tend to make things too tedious and unnecessary. And they change their minds (which is valid) but with my experience, a little too frequently.

And there was an instance that a woman goes crazy over me due to a problem that had nothing to do with me.

Personally, I will turn down business if it involves dealing directly with a woman, or a woman is in charge.

NO OFFENSE LADIES OF GFY...

But in the business world, some, if not most women have the attitude that they will get things done their way or cause every possible problem in doing so. I've had a number of clients as women and they are unwilling to look past their point of view or even consider adopting a different pattern of thought.

:2 cents:

Tom_PM 05-05-2010 11:21 AM

Sucks when issues arise late in the game that change the whole game. Everyone can agree with that (I think).

Sly 05-05-2010 11:23 AM

Don't pitch the bitch!

...

Half of the Top Bucks office is women. We get by! ;-)

I am more male than female, so bring on the inappropriate comments.

In all seriousness though, it's tough to be a woman in this industry because threads like this do not support us well. And I'm not saying it's unjustified. I have met more women in this industry that do not understand the product they are promoting than men. It drives me insane when women use their boobs, or they flirt to get a deal done.

Use your brains, the rest follows.

Ayla_SquareTurtle 05-05-2010 11:30 AM

Meanwhile, over half of my freelancing business every month comes from repeat clients who specifically sought me out because I'm a woman.

I love working with women as they are great listeners:)

I am doing business with a woman, an she can manage the money better than me.

MetaMan 05-05-2010 11:33 AM

Alot not all women are self entitled they are used to daddy being away at work and being given everything they asked for.

as soon as you stand up to them you are the asshole or you have the problem.

You can spot women with daddy issues within the first 10min of talking to them.

Tom_PM 05-05-2010 11:39 AM

I got into this business because of a female webmaster. I think the OP had a problem with a person, not a gender. Even if more than one in his experience, still not neccessarily a gender issue.

mona 05-05-2010 11:50 AM

I'm usually significantly more crass and offensive than all the men I work with...

MetaMan 05-05-2010 11:51 AM

I normally just give them a spank on the ass and address them as "toots" they seem to appreciate that.

_Richard_ 05-05-2010 11:52 AM

don't think gender really ever comes into it

RadicalSights 05-05-2010 11:53 AM

woman suck!

UFGators2007 05-05-2010 11:56 AM

Nope, no problems. So is anyone going to say it? "I feel bad for you son. I got 99 problems but ..."

I'd say if it happens "All too often" like you say, you might have to think it's not them, it's you.

It can be awkward sometimes...

woj: Nice tour, but who is that whore with 3 cocks in her mouth?

jk :) :1orglaugh

GirlsOnYou 05-05-2010 12:25 PM

Well I can't say that it really happens often but % wise it does. Like 50% of women I do business with get offended at some point and I've never managed to offend a guy I do business with (at least not significantly). The last woman I did business with that got mad I didn't know was a woman until she got offended .. but I fortunately have to deal with only a few women per year.

alias 05-05-2010 12:26 PM

No, I tend to offend everyone equally.

Out of curiosity... what are you doing/saying that you are offensive? I can be "offensive", but I typically keep that for friends and people I know well. I don't think it is appropriate to talk in an offensive manner with somebody that you don't know, there's really no point to it.

Well for example telling what needs to be fixed about some art/design/code/text and correcting them when needed. Or calling some script/program they use stupid (that they haven't made themselves). Never anything that really is understandably offensive.

Word up!

Ive had people ask and make sure they are talking to the right Deej because my Business talk is much more refined and 'professional' than my shit I spew here all the time.

When its real biz I keep it real. If I work with them for a year I end up being comfortable enough to call them asshole or something :thumbsup Yea, you know who you are asshole!

J. Falcon 05-05-2010 01:59 PM

Never had that problem myself. What exactly did you say to her/them?

CDSmith 05-05-2010 02:06 PM

Man or woman, business dealings with either is a crapshoot. Some women can make for the best most smooth-sailing biz relationships ever, while others end up making you sorry you ever bothered with them and their attitude. Same goes for male clients too though.

Just work on being the best "you" you can be. That's really all you have control over.

digitaldivas 05-05-2010 02:17 PM

never had problems with women professionally, only the ones i date :(

I've dealt with so many clueless, incompetent affiliate reps who couldn't find their own ass with both hands. Most are female. Rather than get upset with the rep, I get upset with the programs who hire these bimbos and make me deal with them. Frankly I consider it an insult to my intelligence.

I'm not swayed by a pretty face or someone calling me "hun", "babe" and "sweetie." I'm married and I am a businessman. Flirting with me in business just irritates me.

I hate incompetence from either gender. I try to give everyone a chance but I am usually disappointed. I remember the initial contact I had with you at your old gig. I thought "oh fuckbeans, not another one." I was pleasantly surprised (hence my quote in your sig). Not only were you able to help me get shit done, you were able to provide valuable information and you did it without LOLs, smileys or pet names.

If programs insist on hiring people who don't know how to make their own sales then they should at least hire you to teach them how to do their jobs and what webmasters expect when they contact their rep.

Klen 05-05-2010 02:38 PM

I think most "legendary"female affiliate rep was tassy pink.Anyone remember her?
