People arent working and now local Fishers are asking for charity

I know people who havent worked a single day since this event occured and because they work for fishing companies and seafood providers etc, they will not have work for a long time.

Areas are closed off and no one is working

Barefootsies 05-06-2010 09:15 AM

Every other industry is getting some charity. They might as well ask.

punkpred 05-06-2010 09:17 AM

One sector of that industry is going to make a fortune out of the others downfall sad when you think about it.

seeric 05-06-2010 09:19 AM

yah i would imagine that it wont be safe for years to eat anything from the gulf. i will certainly ask where my shrimpys are coming from when i buy them soon.

this is terrible. NO and the gulf region was just getting back on their feet.

Fletch XXX 05-06-2010 10:21 AM

yes the turtles eating oil covered fish are already washing ashore. the crabs will eat the dead fish, dead turtles and they will die. it starts with plankton, you kill the plankton and the whole chain starts to die.

shrimp eat plankton, and the oil is covering everything. the cycle has started and its sad to see.

we are fucked world totally at the moment

Fat Panda 05-06-2010 10:25 AM

Just fucking terrible but enough of the fucking finger pointing...this world runs on fossil fuels. If it not for BP and many others what would fishing boats be running on? The world spins in circles, everything is interconnected. Lifes a bitch, some people win...some lose.

KillerK 05-06-2010 10:28 AM

so the dinosaurs get the last laugh?

Caligari 05-06-2010 10:41 AM

BP should be paying them all right now to help clean up this mess, and they should pay them the wages they usually get fishing.

the problem with BP is they actively fight US regulations for safety valves. Companies like SHELL voluntarily install them on their rigs, BP says they are "too expensive" THAt is why BP is at fault... because if they had back up safety valve this wouldnt be happening.

You can go to Prince William sound right now and dig 6 inches and strike exxon valdez oil.

I feel terrible for the fisherman, but I'm afraid that their best bet is seriously, and painfully, to find some new thing to do and just pray it's not permanent.

it is still that bad there? damn that blows. I guess I am like most Americans and out of sight out of mind, there should be renewed interest in the aftermath of Valdez now that this has happened

Health officials closed fishing area to protect consumers from tainted food. Sounds serious.
