30 day holds on ffin epass are ridiculous for charges that should drop

Listen I love epass, great service over all. But shit Michael O goes on vacation and I have to talk to 8 different Indian people that I can barely understand.

Had 3 pending charges that are obviously supposed to be dropped. Its not that much money 105.00 but why is the burden on me to try to get a merchant to fax them in order to get money released? Doesn't take a genius to figure out they are holding a shit load of money every month on these charges, and that can't hurt them earning interest on it. I just literally yelled at everyone I could there about this and was yelling for 20 minutes straight.

Of course first they have to ask everytime my info, and there is 15 steps of verification. I mean ya verify me, but do you really need to ask me 15 questions? When I am trying to put money BACK on the card? Ridiculous.

Who else has dealt with these fuckin 30 day holds?

i, when i got checked by fb marketing, they hold 50$ for month

Simple solution: don't use your epass card as a CC. I got burned a couple of times (including a double charge for a restaurant bill), now I just withdraw cash from an ATM and pay with that. Haven't looked back since.

BTW, I'm not sure epass is actually the one holding the virtual $, perhaps their backend processor takes care of it?

Honestly Its just at their discretion. I got them to drop a dominos charge that was on there. I try not to use it as a cc too often, but then you end up paying 3.00 atm fee, plus epass from what I can see is ALSO charging 3.00 So if you take out 20.00 you can pay 26.00 between the atm fee, and epasses new atm fee. Took out 80.00 this morning, and looked and the initial charge is 82.00 (2.00 fee at that atm) then "amount in USD" (which is funny since it was already in USD lol) is 85.00. So getting double dinged on the atm fees, then they hold these pre auth charge. Just gets to be aggravating. If they are going to be a Credit / Debit card provider they should behave in the same way as the rest do. Even paypal's debit card releases these charges right away...

I hate that 30 day wait period also. I used the card to put some $180 into my children's lunch fund at school and it said that the address didn't match or something like that, so the funds didn't get put into my children's accounts.

I figured it was just a denied charge until I noticed that the $180 was sitting as pending in my account. I contacted Epass and they gave me the same story, how I had to have the school fax them a letter with the transaction number stating that they weren't gonna claim the money and the letter had to have the school header on it.

The school was more than happy to help me out. They did just that and emailed it over to Epass and even CC'd me a copy of it. I waited a couple of days and the charge was still pending, so I called up Epassporte and they said they NEVER got the email. I got pissed off and said "Fuck It" and just waited the 2 more weeks to hit the 30 day mark and had it drop off on it's own.

Ya said above, ends up costing 6.00 to pull any money out now. I don't like wasting 6.00 per transaction personally.

jackknoff 05-06-2010 09:05 PM

Why on earth would you use your ePass card as a CC. Eek! About their security, I imagine they have tons of calls everyday where people try to social engineer other peoples accounts. Their just looking out for you

Jack

I've actually used it for years that way with very few issues other than the 30 day thing that happens.

How am I cheap? lol You are as usual a moron. Stay away from me Gunther.

Oh and one refund showed up so far at least. Still 60 or so in charges that should of dropped right away.

Klen 05-07-2010 11:56 AM

Yes those 30 days hold are irritating, but when i ask michael o will they drop and he confirm,i simply forget on it and that's it.

pornguy 05-07-2010 12:00 PM

You sure it was them??? I know when I use my epass at Costco here they charge me 2 times for the same thing. One holds for 30Days and then drops.

Nothing to do with epass

brentbacardi 05-07-2010 12:16 PM

epass, paypal, alertpay, ANYTHING! I transfer it to a bank account and from there to another bank account that those services dont have access to. I don't trust any of them for one second. Best to get it out of their clutches asap and use my bank debit card, where if something is wrong I just drive half a mile down the road and scream at the manager.... always works very quickly!!!! :)

BSleazy 05-07-2010 03:42 PM

I get those too but they always drop in about 30 days.

fuzebox 05-07-2010 04:01 PM

I would have figured by now every epass user knew not to use the card as a CC. I personally only withdraw the max amount ($500), and it only costs me $3 with no additional fee, making it still the cheapest (and fastest) way for me to receive money by far.

Gambrinus 05-07-2010 04:08 PM

I use my epass virtual online all the time. I prefer to use it online rather than my normal cards. At least if my epass virtual gets jacked from some website it will be useless to them as I keep all my money in the wallet and only move it over when I want to buy something. I buy plane tickets and book hotels and shit with it all the time. A couple of times its been denied at whatever website I am trying to use it on, only to have the charge appear and money deducted from my epass. Usually it will just sit there as pending for about a month and then money goes back into account. Its been for amounts less than a hundred so I dont call up epass. Had they been 500+ Id probably be seriously bent out of shape.

I fucking love epass.

pstation 05-07-2010 04:16 PM

not really epass's fault though. just simply the way credit card transactions work.

Same here... Withdrawal $600 and when you need it, get it from under the mattress.

You can call them up and request a large withdrawal limit BTW...

The problem is that when a merchant put a pending charge on your card then they have 30 days to complete it. After the 30 days if they complete the transaction then we can charge it back with out any problems if we drop it before the 30 days and the merchant then complete the transaction there is nothing we can do.
So if we drop transactions before the 30 days are up then the scammers would show up in a second running the cards through their own accounts and then when the Pending charges were dropped they would complete the transactions and nothing we can do about it.

Another case of the few dishonest people fucking it up for the honest people :(
I will be back Monday :)
