Ending Don't Ask Don't Tell
President Harry Truman ended segregation in the US armed services.
Today the day before his birthday, born 126 years ago, his grandson has sent the following letter to President Obama. http://thequeertimes.com/2010/05/sto...er-friday-7th/ |

We are getting at a critical point in getting the repeal DADT to even get voted on by the Senate since the White House is backing down on this.
Today there is a letter that went to the President and the First Lady from an active duty serviceman http://thequeertimes.com/2010/05/sto...-tuesday-18th/ |

There's a huge difference between a difference between races and a difference between sexes. You can tell a man he's got to shower with another man, and you can tell a woman she's got to shower with another woman. That's fine. But tell a man he's got to shower with a gay man and it's like telling a woman she's got to shower with a group of men.
I'm all for gays in the military. I'm a former Marine; I'm sure some of the buys in my unit were gay. But if you take out the gays from the issue, it's still about the sexes - you can't tell a woman she's got to shower with twenty men daily. I don't know how they do it in combat zones as it is these days. |
