xbiz: Closing of comment period

LOS ANGELES ? Now that the comment period for the .XXX sTLD on ICANN?s site has ended, the debate whether to approve ICM?s application to sell the domain name is just heating up.

Many in the adult industry have spoken out against approving ICM?s application. But this issue goes beyond adult and affects business owners in mainstream as well.

A quick trademark search found hundreds of business? that have registered XXX and use it either by itself or in conjunction with other terms. ........

we'll see if ICANN takes to heart all the anti-.xxx responses to see that the "sponsored community" doesn't want it.

Fight the .XXX!

I don't think it has a chance... I did a little more research on this and almost every right wing family organization on the planet opposes it.

hopefully they'll listen to us and say NO to .xxx

Well, you can bet that "Lard Ass Lawley" will still be back even if it not approved. This guy will never stop and we need to keep fighting him tooth and nail!

I just think .com for adult sites is fine.

IMO .xxx is ONLY a tool to get a few cats overnight rich... They just want to leverage an industry that has money and wants to protect their IP including domain names regardless of tld...

It's complete BS and I place the guys pushing for it just behind the patent troll level of douchebagery...

I just worry that ICANN will ignore those as not being within the stake-holder/affected entity arena as they interpret it. Some folks who are indeed stake-holders didn't even both to post their opinions (in spite of postings here and elsewhere trying to get them to invest mere minutes of their time to save them/us from ICANN possibly approving .xxx).
