David Duke gonna run for president? Tea Party?

From his site:
David Duke is launching a Duke for President exploratory committee, and will soon start a year long tour across America from his home base in Mandeville, LA. He plans to speak in every state and gauge the political response to his possible entry into the race for the Republican nomination.

Thousands of Tea Party Activists and many others have urged him to run for President!

Although I really don't give a shit about keeping my white heritage alive (whites are boring), I do agree with the other 90% of the things he says. He's like Ron Paul on steroids. Maybe I'm biased cause I'm from Louisiana.

Let the racist comments fly.

If the Tea Party wants to have any real credibility, they need to stay away from this guy. As many good ideas as he may have, you can't make a former KKK guy your candidate. That is the only thing anyone will ever talk about.

Unless your guy is a Democrat by the name of Robert Byrd, then you can be a well respected member of the U.S. Senate.

mayatoomanybonghits did not provide any evidence that "thousands" of Tea Party members have urged David Duke to run for president. I would think it is far more likely the number is closer 25 to people.............. who all happen to members of maya's extended family living in a double wide somewhere deep in the Louisiana bayou. :winkwink:

Agent 488 05-15-2010 10:22 AM

TheSenator 05-15-2010 10:25 AM

True. But there is a huge difference between running for Senate and running for president.

True. While I don't follow the Tea Party movement on a daily basis, this is the first I have heard of his name anywhere.

Like I said, even though I don't believe in seperating the races. It is true that when white people talk about preserving their heritage, they are considered racist, and when any other ethnic background does it, its just fine. Why is this?

I know it doesn't make sense. White people don't have a history of being racist in this country at all, at least not that I can think of. It's difficult to think of any reason why people who talk about preserving their white heritage might be associated with racism.

LoveSandra 05-15-2010 03:54 PM

Normally it is because when many white people talk about preserving their race/heritage they want to do it by removing the other races. I don't mean they want to kill then, but they would like to see them removed fro the country or not allowed in. Other races seem to want do this by just being aloud to celebrate their own race/heritage.

Obviously this is a blanket statement and doesn't cover every person or group and you are right, there is a double standard. If a group of black people marched down the street just to announce they are proud to be black, there would be no problem. If a group of white people did the same it would be racists. That is a double standard, but white people have ruled this country, and in many ways this world, for a very long time and they have done some not-so-nice things to other races. Once you have that in your past, it is hard to shed it.
