Not sure I completely understand the technology they are using that drew the wrath. Do you?

Oh yes I understand the math perfectly, here goes-

company x has hit the skids so they decide to sue company y (all companies) for z, being the figure.

And so x-y= another lame law suit.

That's one hell of a broad patent, clearly made for DVD/Tapes/TV and now being abused on the Internet.

They could easily beat this... the video technology the Industry uses today does not use 'pictures' to break up the display of the clip. They uses video rolls/screenshots which play a mini segment of the video and it's one thing, not each unique parts. As well, hardware does not generate ours, software does.

That's just looking over quickly...

So, the answer would be, "no."

If that is it, I would think that use of a tape vs a file would be enough to beat it. But I am no patent lawyer. Would have to see if the patent covered file usage.

Every fucking porn site on the internet does this, as well as every site that shows a video. Are they suing the whole internet as well? :1orglaugh

True true... it's such a sticky area of law.

Added note: I think it says any medium it's stored on.

Actually that would be what we call a "Joke" which is what the lawsuit is. Lighten up, have a brew, relax.

Inmotion is basing this lawsuit on technology that is not apples and apples, they are applying an old patent to new technology, which gets so general that they have no chance of nailing it in a court of law.
