Congrats to Vince Carter
well done Vinsanity! natural born loser. always has been. anybody in the NBA who thinks Vince Carter on your team helps you win a championship should lose his job.

Amazing how many of these NBA stars the media and the NBA anoint as the next Jordan/Magic/Bird turn out to be losers when it counts - Lebron is now suspect, Dwight Howard the same, before them it was Carter, McGrady and countless others. If you can't do it in the playoffs all you are is an entertainer and sadly that's all most of these young NBA players really care about. |
The way I look at it he had a chance to make it close but I can't fault him for losing the game. He played hard the whole time and did contribute.
On the other hand Rashard Lewis did very little and that could be considered the difference as well. JJ Redik made a mental error at the end that didn't help either. The Magic played better than game one but still can't score. It's all uphill from here but I'm not giving up yet. |

Man he was a crybaby when he was in Toronto also... Air Canada my ass!
|
Rashard Lewis is no different.
|
Are people finally going to realize the master of panic is almost as bad at coaching as his brother was?
|
To bad they suck in the start but i hope they will be in the final this year

Moral of the story: when you build a team around incomplete basketball players, don't be surprised when they can't play a complete game. |
Congrats...

There is no I in team. The team has to do well together to win it all. Boston is out playing Orlando. Looks like it may be the Lakers against Boston.
|
He isn't that bad :pimp |
0-2 against boston is hard especially the next game is at boston
|
Vince is soft

Except the part where Boston plays the Lakers. :upsidedow I live in Orlando and I'm rooting for the Magic. Their problem with Boston is scoring and the players that usually rain threes haven't been. They had good enough attempts to score. The ball just didn't go through. They only lost by three points. Jason Williams shot a three, the ball went down, rattled around and came back out. It was as close to making the shot you can get and not. Those three pts. would've tied the game. The attempts were there. the points weren't. What I find most frustrating is the officiating. I know it's hard to call as it happens but one bad call can turn the game. The announcers, with the aid of slow motion replay pointed out several bad calls some that went against the Magic. You can easily place as much blame on them as you can on Carter for missing two free throws. Zuzana has it right. The magic are not playing well enough as a team so get off Vince's back. |
Can't lose both of your home games to start a series. Looks like it will be Boston vs LA

Rashard Lewis is the real disapointment here. It doesnt even look like he is trying out there. He i just going through the motions. I never understood why they gave him a big contract in the first place. He has had maybe 10 good games in his life... not even great games
|
He's great player. If you thing he's born loser but some money on the next game!
|
Yet it seems all people can talk about is how bad the Cavs played and how bad Orlando is playing. Maybe people should wake up and realize Boston has got their shit together and making teams look bad :D
|
This has nothing to do with Vince and everything to do with Dwight Howard's possesions in the block. He's not decisive enough and doesn't work for his high percentage shots. He falls away from the basket all to often. And most importantly, he isn't drawing a true double-team. He has to pull a double-team, because without it, that offense is shot.
Lewis isn't worked into the offense enough in this series, Van Gundy admitted that in the Press Conference. I would assume Howard's play is part of that reason. Here is the clear difference: Go back and watch Shaq play, while he is consistent, you don't always know what he is going to do (pass, drop-step, hook) or how long he will take to do it (if the double comes fast, he may drop-step fast, or he may survey his cutters and 3-point shooters). With Howard, you know what's coming. I think Howard needs a better specialty coach. |
why would Lebron's coach have anything to do with him quitting vs Boston? I don't remember him being an issue when they led the league with 61 wins...
|
That's what Lebron nutriders use a rationalization. When the Cavs are winning it's because of Lebron. When the Cavs are losing it's because of Brown.

i like Stan Van Ron Jeremy - coaching young superstars in the NBA is extremely hard. you can't get them to do anything they don't want to do. There's only one Phil Jackson and even he has to play mind games and coddle players. You want to know when Vince Carter stopped being the next Michael Jordan and became Wince Carter - when Charles Oakley wasn't on his team, Carter was scared shitless of Oakley. There just aren't many grizzled mean veteran players around to hold young players no matter how many highlights they get on Sportscenter accountable.
I heard Tim Legler talking about Howard this morning and he nailed it, he said he'd like for once to see Howard during the pre-game warmups working on his face up game with Patrick Ewing who supposedly is on the Orlando staff for that very reason instead of having to watch Howard in a wife beater showing off his incredible physique. |

bottom line : boston is getting it done against teams that were 'supposed' to run them over. |

However, when Howard followed through the motion to push Pierce out of the way it became a hard foul and he deserved the T. This time the refs got it right by not having him ejected. :) I just hate the way a bad call can have so much influence on the game no matter which side it's on. It's a flaw of the game and it would be hard to name a few other sports where the judging is so critical. And while I'm at it all those guys flopping need to man up and play like one. |

Nba officials probable have the most difficult job of officiating than any other sport, and I think they do a pretty good job, night in and night out. Any way one call doesn't make a series. Can it change one game sure, but I think all the calls even out in the end. I can tell you why boston is going to win in one word, RONDO, he is schooling nelson. That and the fact that Boston is just the better team. |
gotta give the Celts alot of credit..
|
Wince Carter
you know on family guy when peter hurts his leg and goes "ah, ah" for 10 minutes...just insert Carter in that picture |
Lol @ blaming it on VC.

Yes, the refs were bad last night. Worse for Orlando than Boston. But Orlando had a better record, "more talent" and were playing at home. Bad calls shouldn't have even mattered to them. The missed free throws shouldn't even have mattered to them. They should have won, easily. Except that they weren't able to handle the Celtics' defense. And it's a little late to wish that Howard had more impact offensively on the blocks. That's never been his game, and obviously he has no desire to work on it. Your eyes didn't deceive you. The Celts match up better against Orlando than probably anyone else in the playoffs - and they outplayed them Almost everyone figured that the big three were done. It looked that way during the season. The problem with that anaylsis: hardly anyone realized that the Celts aren't the big three anymore. They're the big four. :thumbsup |
Vince Carter is one of the best players in the NBA and winner of the NBA dunking contests.

Well, I guess if the only response I get is from the FatBot, this thread is closed. :1orglaugh

but then i lost interest in the thread cuz the laker game was coming on :1orglaugh |
