My average for 2008 was 1:324 (raw)
My average for 2009 was: 1:513 (raw)
My average for 2010 is 1:1063 (raw)
My average for May 2010 is 1:1810 (raw)
I have raised my traffic since last year so my revenue is the same as last year...

But...
Today I am at 0:10000 so far and I just have 1 rebill...
Who does better?

I have 0 sign ups today...
I have never had this before.... This is my worst week ever...
This is not because of the tubes, facebook, twitter, ...
This is fucking recession...

Just minutes after my 1st post I had my very 1st sale for today...

I have raised my traffic to have more revenue but the more I do for it, the less (of revenue) I get in return...

That seems to be the trend.

In 2010 you really need to know how to develop quality targeted traffic. Plain and simple. It means a lot less sign ups, but you will have better conversion and retention. Having content that converts helps, and knowing how to sell. Especially niche.

The old business model playing a numbers game with traffic is not going to cut it anymore.

I have always had targeted traffic for micro-niches. My ratios were usually less than 1:100 raw, not anymore though.......It's not 1 sale a day bad, but it's a lot worse than what it used to be.

YT. Pure amateur niche content free. And more and more of it.

So yeah all is not well in niche land. And why I see mainstream (anything truely xrated, like cumshot, anal and fresh high res content) holding it's own and soft niche struggling.

There is a major Gorilla on the scene in essence competing with us for soft niche surfers. And they are winning or at least hurting conversions in soft, non x rated (but still highly jerkable) niches.

Im normally around 1:3k and im 1:3300 this month so a bit higher but last month was actually 1:3600 so im seeing an improvement and slowly getting back to "normal".

I send an assload of traffic though so my higher ratios still do very well.

I wouldnt get too panicked as mentioned ebb and flow. Just keep your head down and work hard and develop some new traffic sources to go along with your current setup.

ps. Ive had some record high and record low days all in the same week! So dont get too awfully bothered. ;)

Fabien, all you say is true. Ratios are higher. Simple as that. At the end of the day, for you and me, the secret is finding sponsors that sell at a profit.

And yeah there are not very f'n many left.

But, there are some.

This biz for an affil is trying 10 things to find three that work. Not a cheap game anymore.

Traffic is priced right along the break even point for most affils so it is very tough.

Hold on tight to your winners and shake the loosers (with respect, they were once great payers) and keep on moving on.

CS, those are about like mine. The problem is we need about 10 more NDs to arrive on the scene. :) 1:1365 is still pretty damn decent for today. Not huge margins but some margin at least. :)

But alas therein lies the rub. Mom and pop cannot run with ND anymore and we don't have 10 ND's to promote. :(

It took production a bit to gear up. As more 1080p arrives things will get better. Content is what sells. I sense the major players are shooting like crazy for new sites cause there is still porn that sells.

Remember as paysites shakeout, affil traffic funnnels into the winners more and more. Allowing them to invest and like ND (our example) give affils $100 a signup nights. that money didnt grow on trees it is because they have a winning product. Together we go forward.

THIS is how early porn grew. I feel bad for sites (content) that doesnt sell but then I never felt the one time huge amount of cash that having paysites years back brang.

It all starts to balance and self correct itself as traffic from affils helps the winners of today build, buy good content and go forward together.

I have been away from adult for years and only came back recently. I am shocked to see how porn traffic went from the only way to make money on the web to almost the least profitable traffic on the web. I got mates who make more selling small amounts tooth whitening traffic than anyone I know dealing porn traffic.

I have found that I am still getting good conversions on a handful of sponsors with very good exclusive niche content. Without that it seems the conversions would be almost none existent for me.

Yes it is really something strange what happened yesterday. My sales were totally down. I ended up with 2 sales and 2 rebills and that is a fraction of what I normally have. Also Tuesday was not that good but not as bad as yesterday. I hope this will turn A.S.A.P.

Yes, early May was great in sales (tough not better than normal) but it is always after the 15th of the month that things change and that hurts my conversions (and my wallet)...
It looks like the surfers are having some cash issues and they can solve their needs by watching free porn at the tubes. But I am sure that if you have something different you will always make cash...

HD is very important depending on what KIND of paysite you have. I don't believe everyone even wants 'HD', they just think they do. LOL For me, I don't really want to see 'amateur HD' because so much of 'true' am porn is just badly lit horribly shakey (good) crap. Making it all crystal-clear wouldn't add to the experience, I feel.

Many people are (understandably) negative these days but you really only have two choices, in the end, right?

25+ sales day on Tuesday, 4 sales day Wednesday, 18+ sales day Thursday, 3 sales day friday, etc.

Visa? The Banks? The Economy? Tubes? All of the above and more?

I don't think its just with adult membership sites. I have a number of businesses that sell digital goods in games (MMO's) and those sales have been dismal. In fact, the lowest I've seen in 4 years with some sites having hit all time lows of $0 for nearly two weeks now which has never happened in those locations. However, my traffic is still strong. They are out there they just aren't spending. Welcome to the world of e-commerce I guess.

I wish you guys the best though! Just do what you dig, remaster and do it again until you get it right. I don't have shitloads of traffic, like some of you guys, but my traffic is awesome, sometimes viral and natural.
