Anyone have a home gym?
One of the first things I'm going to get when (if) I move into my new house is a weight training system. I've been looking around at a few things, but all "all in one" unit would be great, something like this...
http://www.bayoufitness.com/c/gs348p4_smith_350.jpg im looking for free weight training with incline/decline bench, plus legs and arms so this looks like a pretty good option and having a smith machine will be good when working out by myself going for more weight/maxing out. more images: http://www.homefitnessequipment.org/...d=2802&index=1 - open in new window, it will resize your browser I don't mind buying it in piece meal, but dont have a whole lot of room for a lot of pieces |
This machine looks like it works out the whole body. Good luck, and remember: "a fat man can workout, but he is still fat."

Go to gym, the human interaction is going to motivate you to workout. Plus hopefully you will get to see some hot chicks all wet all over.

Yeah man, don't invest in a home gym until you've hit the gym for at least 2 years consistently, even then you may reconsider. I've tried the home gym thing, and ended up never using it. I just keep going to the gym. The only thing I'd recommend for home use would be machines for cardio like an elliptical, that way you can roll out of bed and jump on.

Im trying to squeeze in an hour a day of weight training and no way i will be able to do that going to a gym. ive been (not recently) working out for years and never liked working out with anyone and always liked going to the gym when there was no one there. |
A packed gym definitely does suck. I usually head to the gym around 10pm. Well, if you don't have a 24 hour gym near you, I guess you have no other option.
I'd get a nice power rack, some free weights, and a good bench. I'd suggest avoiding a smith machine and getting something without rails if it will be your only rack. The guiding rails hinder development of the balance / stabilization you want to develop when lifting (squats, bench, etc.). Don't get me wrong, smiths are useful when you need some variety, but if you primarily workout on a smith for a long time, then lift some free weight, you could really injure yourself. |

check craigslist for someone that bought a new gym and never used it.
In six months when it's collecting dust, put it back up on craigslist :thumbsup :1orglaugh |
i have tried having a home gym and found i never used it was more motivating to get out of the house and go the gym...though these days i find a run more appealing then working out in a gym...love the outdoors

Home gyms rock. Without one, I'd be a skeleton with a big belly. That home gym in the picture looks okay, not great. I don't think it allows you to do back rowing. Frankly though, the beautiful thing about exercising is that you don't need fancy equipment to do it. Free weights with a flat bench, swiss ball, and a pull up bar will let you do everything you need.

Have a look at Ironmaster's IM2000 and SuperBench http://ironmaster.com/

I have a gym set up in my garage. I do a morning workout and try and do cardio after dinner when I can.

my home gym is a set of adjustable dumb bells, push up bars and a pull up bar. lolol it's working terrific for about 70 days now but i'll want to step up and get a bench as I get stronger. so i'll get one that can decline and incline and some more weights and go heavy dumb bells. i figure i can go another 3 months making gains simply from pushups, pullups, and dumbell squats/lunges as primary exercises. |
i have fitness station and three boxing bugs (heavy, teardrop and double-end) at home.
i don't like gym... in the gym i can't think about own body coz i think about chicks with tight bodies around me :love-boob |
i have one, not very huge, but for me just ok!

I love the mirrors, thats what makes it work. my gf laughed at me, but I want to replicate what I'm used to. although I do not have a whole lot of room, I have an area of about 10' x 15' and have to incorporate a treadmill and bike into the mix, but the treadmill folds up. otherwise I can use the larger area which is about 18" x 40 " but that takes up what i was going to use for a pool table and bar area in the basement |
