Another Trade Script reccomendation thread

I know this has been asked many times, and i have already searched and checked out quite a few scripts, however I am specifically looking for a trade script that I can upload banners to (a lot only deal with links) and that isn't installed by a single install.php file, as the server I am installing it on does not allow them to work.

Unfortunately, the scripts I have found that meet requirements, but have just the one install.php file, do not have an alternative install method and support staff have not answered emails, so I'm still searching...

Any recommendations for scripts will be greatly appreciated. Preferably free, as it's for a mate's new paysite and she's not started earning from it just yet. :)

did you tried TradePulse ?

Couldn't you use any banner already uploaded to the server and just link the out.cgi to it? If so, any trade script will do.

Thanks for the responses.

I am having problems installing tradepulse, crystaltrader, tradeexpert, smart traffic trader... etc. In fact, anything with an install.php file, as the server configuration won't allow the scripts to run and the host is not being too helpful regarding helping me sort out the server settings.

The only script I have managed to install, is slothtrader, which doesn't have a banner 'visual' toplist option, but whose programmer did reply on their forum suggesting the same sort of thing as Babaganoosh, but by calling the banners domain.com.jpg so that I could write it into the toplist template as %DOMAIN%.jpg. The problem is, is that each signup would have to be manually approved and a banner sourced and uploaded.

This would be fine if it was me that was going to be looking after it, but I am building the site for someone else who should 'hopefully' manage the majority of it herself... at least the traffic aspect!

Slothtrader is the only script up to now that has had the zipped files available as an alternative to install.php. Why do so many of the scripts insist on this, when judging from their own forums, it's not just me that has this problem? Why can they not provide the zipped files as well? Some of us can be trusted to FTP them ourselves!

This is becoming a bit of a ballache for me now. I only want to install a tradescript! I've been banging my head against a wall for over a week because of this. It's something that should take 15 mins tops. :(

What kind of error are you getting when trying to install other scripts?

Also, are you sure you need a trade script and not a toplist script?

eg http://jmbsoft.com/software/toplistx/

I am getting a 500 error. I have been onto the host, as the only thing I can establish from searching on the Tradepulse forums is that it's a server config issue, as this seems to be the stock reply to anyone asking that has also received this error, however rather unhelpfully, it has no indication towards exactly WHAT needs configuring.

the host has now been very helpful and I have managed to install, but he was asking me what I needed configuring - but I could not tell him!

Now I'm getting the 500 error when I try and login. It's just getting to be too much hassle to warrant spending this amount of time on and the support forums are not manned often enough for a lot of these scripts and I have been waiting since Friday morning for a response on the tradeexpert one.

I need a tradescript, as I want tradelinks and toplists... A toplist only does half the job I want it to. It cannot run the 'friends' links too. That looks like a good toplist though :)
