Good shout !! :thumbsup

The number of people i know who still seem to give their dogs chocolate often is not even funny. Even when you tell them it's bad for it, it's like "yeah well he's been ok with it so far"... :disgust

Even a couple grapes/raisins can do it.

my dog got into the garbage last nite, i found him grubbing on a chicken breast with the bones on it. close call.

On top of that two things that aren't foods-

Cats and dogs like the taste of car anti-freeze = fucked kidneys so if you top your car up and spill some clear it up.

Lillies (flowers) fuck up cats too.

Especially when they are part of something else, chicken salad leftovers, etc.

Great article except for

"Additionally, do not feed your pet undercooked meat or eggs, as they can contain harmful bacteria."

That's ridiculous. Dogs didn't cook until we started processing their food for them. I feed my pup raw and she thrives on it.

good to know :thumbsup

I have to disagree with some of those.
My dogs can put away a half rack of baby back rib bones in about 5 minutes. Never a problem. These are big dogs that eat rocks, bark, drywall.... one of them ate a big green cube of rat poison and never skipped a beat.

TrainWreckContent 05-28-2010 11:31 AM

that's just imitation chocolate, not the real thing. They make dog treats in chocolate flavor because they do really like it, but it can kill them!

cherrylula 05-28-2010 11:39 AM

My dog has eaten raw onions before, he'll eat anything. But good to know it is bad for him.

The bad thing is the damage is cumulative. Thus your dog already has some permanent damage. Some of these thigns won't kill your dog right away when eaten in small amounts but over time will cause problems. I bet a lot of people that have dogs or cats with kidney issues those issues where caused by unknowingly feeding them raisins and onions and such for years.

yeah, I was gonna say.... lol
they're not selling real chocolate for animals at pet stores.

I've never given mine chocolate (real or fake), but I sometimes toss some McD's burgers to them in the back of the truck if we're going somewhere. (everything but the wrapping paper).

borked 05-28-2010 12:27 PM

a bit of azide never hurt anyone...

fatfoo 05-28-2010 12:53 PM

Chocolate can be poisonous to dogs. You have to be careful about what you feed your pets.

No, I mean thick rich Hershey bars for humans but how many give some to their dogs?
