Things go out of hand on me this last couple of weeks with some new ventures and work away from my computer but it's come to an end just this week. Mike and I are friends and work alot together, and I let it slide too far is all. I'm man enough to admit when I fucked up. |

I love that you think you're a detective because me and the wife have the same IP. That's actually hilarious man. PS. I don't have clients. I have a select group of people I design for, Twistedbydesigns is closed. |

I've never muzzled her, and she's been free to speak her mind no matter how absurd . If she upset people here in 2002 and they're still talking about it today then the issue would be theirs and not hers I think. For the record. The only person my wife has pissed with that was a client of mine was Hungryman , and we've met hungryman in person and he knows she exists LOL, so not sure how these funny rumors get started. If I wanna piss with someone, I'll do it to their face... not posing as my wife, that's just ridiculous. Anyway man, not sure what your problems' been with me, but I'm not interested in it. |

Customer who orders a design and is paying any kind of deposit is at a much bigger disadvantage than the designer: There is little sense in ordering a design and then not pay for it. On the other hand, there is a much bigger chance of designer taking the money, and then not do anything and dicking the customer around. When you already have the money - you're all set and secured, so you can fuck with the customer however you like. For this reason, more often than not, it's the flaky designers who cause problems - not customers. |
And i'm not singling out the designers here. I've had this problem with all kind of hired force: copywriters, programmers, grunt workers, etc. People get money and then just fuck off to be lazy assholes.

You don't get to order a custom anything without a deposit. Try it with any product you choose. Order a custom motorcycle, or custom flooring, custom paint for your Escalade.... anything. The reason for the deposit is, if the customer flakes or changes their mind, that deposit is not getting refunded. It pays for the work already done. You're paying for a designer's time, and if his time has already been spent working on something custom for you, he can't very often make it useful for a different customer that will pay. I used to work 100% without taking deposits. But I was younger and dumber. |

I'll comment on this, even though it's unrelated to this post at all, as Mike paid upfront as always as he has for years, and unfortunately we had a problem this one time.. Most often, clients who don't pay a deposit are the clients that'll fuck you around the most, while they hold your money as ransom for the million things they're gonna ask you to change that they KNOW are pushing the limits. Most often, the client is a nobody with no reputation, business name or status that can be tarnished. If I post that " joe blow " didn't pay me... who gives a fuck really ? Wanna know who gives a fuck? the answer is only me. Now if Mike posts that MGK fucked up a design, and didn't deliver... wanna know who gives a fuck ? ever potential client that I'll ever have, every client I've ever had, and any designer that's my competition or otherwise. Fact is in this business as a designer, that more often than not it is the good clients, that are reasonable and patient that will end up getting dicked around while the rude assholes that are impatient and a total pain in the ass get priority, all so we can get a balance on a project that ended up going over budget and heaven forbid you mention cost increases after the fact , or you're " scamming " them then too. I'm not afraid to say that I dropped the ball on my whole business model, I Marketed myself as cheap and awesome and totally fucked myself. for years I dealt with clients that were nothing but as unreliable as the " flaky " designers they bitched out on the boards. there is a reason I've closed TBD, and it's because as a designer you basically deal with more bullshit than you can imagine, you build all these sites to make other folks rich and have to nickle and dime your way through almost every order, and basically you're the dishwasher of the adult industry. I'd rather work with a small group of people I know and work well with while I'm pursuing new ventures outside adult. on that note, I gotta get back to work or I'm never gonna get home. Anyone else that needs to get ahold of me email me , I don't answer ICQ and don't come here often. |
Good luck getting your job done the right way by Machine Gun Kelly, KingpinMedia.

Hey Kelly, I've sent you a few emails with no replies. I'd love it if you can do some work for us.
|
machinegunkelley has always done great work, not always on time and not always easy to get ahold of, but glad to see you're doing good and keeping busy. can you recommend any other good designers who are affordable now that you're so busy? good designers are hard to find.
