Interesting... Affiliate program deadpool. One approach would be to search for "(program) is not paying") types of threads. However, not all dying programs stop or skip paying, I'm sure others pay like clockwork even if they are operating in the red.

Many will follow..

2010 year of truth.

People can't pretend to make money selling something that is available for free, Easy as that. Don't over think it.

You've said this a few times. I think you should change it to "I can't keep pretending I can sell stuff people that they can get for free".

There is thousands of us who actually make money at this.

Stop lumping all the failures into one pile just because you can't understand the basic principles of sales.

My thoughts exactly.

Both on the O.P. you originally quoted, and the fact many still make money. Just because the hobbyists and part timers never learned to sell, and followed the sheep copying catting everyone else does not mean everyone did.

Before people could play the numbers game with traffic, and make money a few hours a day and never learned to sell. Once it took some skill to make money, they were outta business, watching their sales drop for 24 months plus, crying on message boards about the boogie man of the week.

While sales may typically be down to most, and almost all have been effected in someway. A lot are working smarter, working harder, or doing things differently to innovate with the industry.

Not everyone is heading back to the paper hat like those can't can't adapt.

They definitely know they are closing down probably months in advance, but standard notice seems to be a few days .. so wait for it :)

Paul Markham 06-02-2010 06:05 AM

Good post Barefootsies.

One of the best ways to spot a site that's failing is the lack of updates.

Why do people buy bottled water when they could drink from a water fountain for free?

howard 06-02-2010 06:11 AM

truth is any just because a program closes down doesn't mean the owner is leaving the industry. many of times people have recreated themselves.

They believe it to be healthier, purer water. Porn industry doesn't offer the surfer a better, safer product (or even the illusion of) on the contrary, most of us just try to slam their CC's as hard as possible.
