Ok, so I put fatfoo on ignore

These days I find myself in bed pretty early, putting my baby to sleep. Sometimes I am not tired, so I quietly check a few places online with my blackberry.

There are some good threads on gfy lately. Some SEO discussion, industry news as always, and I have been reading them at night in bed.

Amazing how when you are using that little tiny track ball to scroll it is just different. I now have no time to waste my thumb's energy scrolling past fatfoo's useless comments.

Occasionally we all post a generic comment in a thread, but at least when I do it or see others I know they are industry people and their opinion might even matter. But this bot shit, well, it is just no good. Bot or not, his replies are pretty useless.

So I will see how it works out tonight. :1orglaugh

theres about 600 more nicks for you to add....

quiet 06-02-2010 08:19 AM

blackberries are very useful. the track pad takes some time to get used to.

cherrylula 06-02-2010 08:21 AM

I've never used the ignore function before, so I wonder if it will just make his posts disappear on bb?

yeah I have gotten used to it. It is pretty handy while watching the baby all over the house. I have to keep it out of her sight though, she'll grab at it like crazy.

quiet 06-02-2010 08:22 AM

oh boo, i was trying to be funny ;)

Fletch XXX 06-02-2010 08:23 AM

the first gadget our daughter is in love with is a blackberry, i took pics of her when she first born with it and she recognize it from day one, if its anywhere near her she will lunge for it. on my desk I cant stop her from going for it LOL and she CRIES when I tell her no...for record I never give it to her to hold she just wants it.

badly.

It's kind of annoying.. at least to me it is, because you still see where he posted, it just notifies you that you are ignoring that person every time. I tried it with LoveSandra for a few hours but the ignore notices were worse to me than the actual posts... :1orglaugh

cherrylula 06-02-2010 08:30 AM

greeeeaaaaat LOL

I just want to save scrolling haha

that's why I made ffvb for firefox. Strips out their posts, threads and quotes completely.

I've only got a shit phone that does texting and actual talking to people but have been wondering about getting a internetty phone for things like reading forums while I can't sleep. Is everything readable and easy to navigate / easy to make a reply, or are phones really not up to it?

yes but their extension api is severely lacking still, they need to do a lot of work on it before I can even begin to port ffvb to it.

I forever love ffvb, but firefox has taken a crap it seems. Chrome is the only thing my laptop likes these days.

thumbs up to the GFY tech, whatever they did recently made it really easy to scroll the board on my bb. No sigs, no images, just the text it seems. It works. :thumbsup

Thanks. I'll have to borrow someone's phone and have a play with it I think.

A trackball is a computer device that serves as an alternative to a computer mouse or touch pad for moving the pointer around on a computer screen.

Function

A trackball consists of a stationary hand rest, which is usually larger than a mouse, that contains a round track ball set in a socket, which allows it to rotate freely. You rotate the ball with your thumb, and sensors detect movement along two perpendicular axes, which, in turn, move the pointer on the screen.

Similarity to a Mouse

The basic principle of a trackball is the same as a ball mouse: with a ball mouse, moving the mouse causes the ball on the bottom to move, and sensors pick up the movement. With a track ball, the thumb moves the ball directly instead rolling the ball across a flat surface.

Movement

Trackballs are useful because the hand can remain stationary while using them, so they are easy to use without a flat surface or mouse pad.

Accuracy

Trackballs tend not to skip and flow more smoothly than mice or touch pads, but mice are often easier to manipulate quickly and accurately.
Maintenance

Trackballs tend not to get as dirty as mice because only the thumb comes in contact with the ball. The trackball is easily removed and can be rubbed clean with a piece of cloth

Like they say: "Once a foo, always a foo"...

Matyko 06-02-2010 12:25 PM

I join in for similar reasons.

cherrylula 06-02-2010 01:00 PM

Yay, it works. LOL

Jarmusch 06-02-2010 01:06 PM

Sometimes you ignore people you wish you had not ignored, like a person who may have a solution or good advice for a problem you, a friend or loved one may be having. It is in times like these that you should ignore the ignore function made available on the internet message boards. Good luck, cherrylula.

The problem with that plugin is that sometimes you see someone quoting people on your ignore list and you have no idea what the hell they're talking about. :Oh crap

Yes, that can make things confusing but that's the price you pay for wiping someone from existence. The extension does have an option to place "click here to view" boxes just like vbulletin does. So you could enable that if you wanted to be able to see that sorta thing.

Ignoring fatfoo is like not reading the fortune in a fortune cookie!
