Do you guys consider 1990's old school??
IMO 1987-back is old school rap.

Never been a fan of Ice T but Rakim is my all time favorite as well, like Rakim as he always had a message in his music instead of killing someone or shake your ass like 90% of the garbage today, my runners up would be Nas, 2Pac and Biggie. I was in kindergarten in '78 so I grew up with all the old shit as well. Couple of my buddies started a break dancing crew and we would grab a sheet of cardboard and face off at the bowling alleys starting from the 4th-5th grade. They offered to teach me how to do it good but I was more into the music so I never became as good as them but I used to make the mix tapes for the faceoffs with the old school ghetto blaster, this thread makes me wanna buy one again.
