Golf: Is it for life?

The last game of golf I played was in 2003 at the Wailea Emerald Course on Maui. Would like to play again, but I just never seem to be able to find the time. Should I sell off all my clubs and gear? Or is golf for life?

Anyone ever successfully returned to golfing after a very long hiatus? Feel like I would have to re-learn everything I've forgotten. :(

I hope it's for life. I haven't picked up a club in 3 years but I'm getting ready to go to the driving range and see If I can remember how.

It's only whacking balls with a stick and dragging a bag on wheels after them.

Honestly if you can go without for 7 years and not die i'm sure you'll survive if you sell the gear.

I golfed when I was young ... then quit for 24 years ... got back into it 5 years ago and now golf 36 holes a day 4-5 days a week.

And, I'm 73 years old now. Got an 84 average right now.

"dragging a bag on wheels" ?

Fuck that... 4-man golf cart equipped with GPS and a beverage cooler.

golf carts and coolers filled with beer all the way. Makes the game interesting:winkwink:

I only play golf (oops, I mean "I only golf") when I'm trying to suck up to some studio exec or someone connected to one, and by the end of the 18th hole, I'm usually ready to sink the golf club into their skull! :1orglaugh

I don't think golf is for life.

I play like 2-3 times a week, shot 77 today and that's bad for me.

As far as my friends go, yes. It is for life. I've been meaning to get into the game. Haven't given myself the time and opportunity to do so.

When I was 18, the first summer after I got out of high school, I played about five times a week with a couple of guys I worked with and one of their friends. I actually got pretty good. We played a 9 hole course near our work and one afternoon I shot a 1 over par for the day. Never duplicated that number, but was consistently around 3-4 over par. I thought then that I would play for life.

After that I still played a decent amount, about 3-4 times a month during the summer, the slowly grew frustrated with it and I haven't played in about 6 years. My golf clubs just sit there looking at me. I don't see myself ever getting back out there so maybe I should sell them.

How the fuck are you going to get lost on a numbered course?

Not sure about going round drunk, the courses here are quite fussy about really pathetic things.

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh The GPS is for yardage to the hole, not driving directions.

I never said anything about getting drunk.

I played tons as a kid and have had a few hiatus just because of time to play etc. The current hiatus being two young kids.

I don't think you really lose much, the short game you lose a bit of touch. But if you've got a solid swing doesn't take much to get back to where you were.

I never considered you might be filling a beverage cooler with anything non-alcoholic.

its definitly possible but hard.. the key is to get your hand-eye coordination and muscle memory back... practice hitting the sweet spot chipping with just your weak arm otherwise ull be frustrated by shank city for a while at the range but if u had the skill b4 i can say u can def get it back.
