So I shut down my PC (desktop) normally and now it does not want to start again........

Most likely the power supply, right?

PS. HP Sucks!

HP does suck.... First ever Desktop I got from them had issues and wounld up sending it back...my brother had a issue as well with a laptop about 13 months into it the motherboard went to shit... it is now a paperweight

OY 06-06-2010 07:13 PM

And to top this issue off - POWER in my neighborhood is going in and out DURING LAKER GAME!!!! WTF! It just went out again!

Yngwie 06-06-2010 07:15 PM

take the cmos battery out and if there's a jumper on the motherboard to reset the bios change the jumper to the appropriate position.. then put the jumper back to the original position, put the battery back in, boot up your pc.. if it works then it's not a power supply issue.

Of course, this might all be useless if when you rebooted you're not getting any power at all.

someone is revving up the mega jackhammer dildos and pulling the power from the electric grid

ErectMedia 06-06-2010 07:27 PM

shut mine down one night and the next morning no go, picked up a power supply and fired right up, good thing is for a standard non flashy power supply for HP they should start at like $25 depending on the model, rip it out and bring it with so you grab the right one. I go here http://www.microcenter.com/at_the_stores/index.html but not sure where your at but any good store should have a nice selection.

ram issue?

CyberHustler 06-06-2010 07:38 PM

Knowing HP, it might be your motherboard...

Could have told you that. I've had a handful of HP's and every single one had issues. :(

Hope you get this figured out soon. I know how much of a pain it can be.

Amputate Your Head 06-06-2010 10:31 PM

Is the POST failing or is there just zero power altogether?

OY 06-06-2010 10:39 PM

No power whatsoever - Ill switch the supply tmrw and see if that works. Thanks guys.

And fuck Boston and today's refs... they sucked.

sojproductions 06-06-2010 10:52 PM

Thats what happened to me ...but when I rebooted the total system inc restore/backup etc it was screwed ! :( HP said I would have to pay them to send a copy of the exact operating disks etc.......so I thought fuck it and simply installed Ubuntu (linux) operating system and never looked back......so I agree HP sucks.

Its just the end detail to the total story...that started off with HP hardware failing..is it that hard to understand ?

v4 media 06-07-2010 02:53 AM

My wife used to work for HP in PC customer support.. I know I'd never buy one.

And had one of their printers and that fucking died after 14 months.

Friend of mine had the exact same thing just a few weeks ago...

It was dead, but he said he was getting a green light at the back, but no post. He thought it was power supply.

I googled and they suggested to reseat the ram etc, but he hadnt moved the pc, and had just switched it off, like you did...

Well, long story short, it turned out to be his graphic card of all things... Didn't seem logical, but it was...

He removed the card, went back to the onboard graphics, it worked! Bought new card, installed, all systems go! Hope this helps

CurrentlySober 06-07-2010 01:17 PM

Did you get it working?
