Scary Movies!

I like scary movies... but not so much "gore"...

I watched The Grudge again recently, and it was still scary!

What are your favorite scary flicks.

ProG 06-07-2010 01:42 PM

I wish movies could still be scary. now I just associate horror movies with comedies :(

seeandsee 06-07-2010 01:42 PM

'The Collector' was fine, and with new part coming i must say i like it a lot!

Sabby 06-07-2010 01:42 PM

The Grudge... I dunno I wasnt in the mood I turned it off after 15 mins.

Saw.. the first one I watched it all disturbing prolly the creepiest horror I ever saw.. I havent seen any of the sequels.

My mother let me watch the exorcist when I was a kid. the girl in the movie looked just like my older sister...

that freaked us all out. Kinda acted like her too.

That one I watched bits and pieces of recently. No pun intended.

Sabby.... The Grudge was worth sticking to throughout to the end.

There have been some fairly recent weird scary movies-
Splinter
Rec
Rec 2
The Reeker - original and creepy

MiLo 06-07-2010 03:16 PM

The Collector was the last FUN horror movie i saw. Not overly gore and extremely clever.

Hidden (2009) was is a great attempt at the "classic chiller" genre.

Pathology - if you are looking for a seriously sick "modern horror" movie.

Those three just pop out of my head right now (that i have seen the past week or so).
I will stick to a "too many to list" and leave it right there. :)

I like the oldies, like excorsist

Brujah 06-07-2010 03:18 PM

[REC] was nice and scary

RachelPanda 06-07-2010 03:19 PM

I'm absolutely obsessed with horror films! I have WAY too many favorites (and I go on cycles--sometimes I love 80's style gore, sometimes more "psychological" movies, etc) but a seriously good one I know of that not many people have seen is "Sublime". It is based on the fear of what being in a coma might be like.

Sabby 06-07-2010 03:25 PM

Fatal Attraction was pretty cool :)

Chuckie ;)

Pet Cemetary.

Actually any horror flick with little kids in it is rather taboo??? Why is this legal... no CP but you can chop them in pieces...

[REC] (the original) freaked me the fuck out.

The Descent is also on my list.

Favorite scary movies in no particular order:

CLOVERFIELD (Just freakin' scary as hell)
The Legend of Hell House (70's classic)
The Mist (Not "The Fog" - blah).
Silent Hill (Under rated - tops on the creep scale for me)
The Others (with Nicole Kidman. Crazy creepy without the horror)

And just because it should be seen by everyone, Peter Jackson's horror class "Dead Alive" (USA), AKA "Braindead" (UK).

The bloodiest, goriest, violent and funniest horror movie I've ever seen. (Don't rent it at Blockbuster they only have the PG rated version. Trust me, you want the X rated (X for violence!) version).

I love me some good J-Horror

If you liked The Grudge, you might like: Pulse (international title, Kairo - original title)

EliteWebmaster 06-08-2010 01:35 AM

Unfortunately there isn't much good scary movies. Unless they are hollywood japanese remakes like The Grudge, The Ring, or Shutter.

hadnt thought about Legend of Hell House in a while, great horror film with Roddy McDowell i believe.

Also, The Mist is the newer Stephen King adaptation? I think its one of the best screen adaptations of his movies. Its scary and weird which is a good combo. I only have a problem with the very end of the film, thought it was forced.

And Braindead, one of the best zombie films ever made no doubt! gotta say i was laughing 80 percent of the time tho, its just fucking hilarious.
I really wish Peter Jackson would go back to New Zealand and start making his own horror films again. Hollywood has sucked the fucking life out of that guy.

Rec was pretty good. I haven't seen many worth mentioning in the past few years

cthulhu_waves 06-08-2010 05:44 AM

I have seen [Rec]2 when I was in Barcelona. Still scared the shit out of me. I also love the new French horror movies like Les Martyrs, Haute Tension, Humane and that twisted pregnancy movie where a psycho bitch believes that a woman a child is bearing in her tummy is hers.

yes just saw Humane, what a strange fucked up movie. that twisted pregnancy film is called "Inside" I think.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inside_(film)

with Beatrice Dalle, who i hadnt seen since she did Betty Blue way back when.

"I spit on your Grave" which is more of a mega-vengeance movie has been re-done and will be released soon. The original kicked ass, literally, but one scene in it still makes me shudder.
