Downtempo Ambience Trip Hop Chillout etc...

Any recommendations? Of course the usual Portishead, Morcheeba, Zero 7, Sigur Ross, Sia, etc... looking for others.

Massive Attack (you didn't list it)
Sade

Supreme Beings of Leisure
Telepopmusik

Dot Allison

Lunascape
Endorphin
Terranova
Daughter Darling
Madita

Not all of these groups are all trip-hop, but all of them have at least a few trip-hop songs. Most are exclusively trip-hop.

Great lists, thanks. I'll start browsing them on Youtube.

Groove Salad on SOMA FM. Only quality.

di.fm has a great chillout station too

Elli 06-07-2010 04:47 PM

I second that (about GrooveSalad). Monkey Radio used to be good too, but they only broadcast low quality through their website now and the playlist has changed a bit.

I don't know if they're exactly the right genre, but I'd like to add the Boards of Canada to the list of artists. Also Sneakerpimps.

I played a shitload of Portishead at my wedding. You'd know if you'd gone. :(

Tricky also has some decent stuff.

Sly 06-07-2010 05:33 PM

Groove Armada, Fila Brazillia, Sneakerpimps.

GrouchyAdmin 06-07-2010 05:41 PM

I remember Groove Salad!

303infinity,
older-older-old telefon tel aviv

trance[]control
the cynic project

all of the above referenced are about 1999-2002. No clue what they sound like now. except for ttv. RIP charlie.

St. Germain and, I'm not sure he qualifies, David Holmes.

...more dubstep, but chilled and smooth

Sly 06-08-2010 06:01 AM

Not downtempo but this is a cool cover of Massive Attack's Teardrop: https://youtube.com/watch?v=2CqWZ...aynext_from=ML
