Safari 5 HTML Reader - love it!

Safari 5 has a nice little button next to the URL that effectively kills the ads, strips off the site's branding and presents the text in nicely-formatted book-style pages.

According to Apple, "Safari Reader removes annoying ads and other visual distractions from online articles... So you get the whole story and nothing but the story."
Just did Software Update, installed and tried it - It makes reading online articles a much more pleasurable experience :thumbsup

How pleasurable will the experience be when the websites close down because
no one clicked their ads?

Funny to see a webmaster (coder I guess) promote stuff that removes ads and all site identity.

Ehm, if you actually tried it you'd realise that the website has to fully load before the reader button appears. Then it gives you a no clutter way to read the text. Even the hyperlinks within the text go to a web page, not a rendered reader page. And then if you want to continue to navigate around the site, you have to close the reader page to go back to the web page.

So, no I don't share your disgust as this just gives people another way to cleanly read text without killing ad revenue.

Oh, and in case you couldn't tell sarcasm from a fat hairy vagina, I was j/k on the vBulletin shit

Additionally, an Ipad news reader, Pulse News Reader, gets Apple's praise only to be pulled by Apple hours later after NYT complains

The NYT is Apple's chosen media outlet, and they haven't complained about the Safari Reader, probably because of the fundamental difference between the Pulse and Safari readers. One strips ads, another loads the we page....

Finally, now I don't have to use the web-kit nightly
