SPAM-a-lot question

Just wondering: is there a reason that every time a site updates we need to be informed? I mean, I know there's some people here who are surfers or almost there, but really.... and at least when there are pics of babes one can enjoy them, but people posting about their last post, or their last aff code, or whatever kind of "creative" spam they can think of...

I've seen there are at least 15 people doing that at least once a week (although usually several times a week), so what would happen if everyone decides to let GFY members know about every update, every blog post, every aff code we signed up and so on?

I know times are harsh and everything, but personally I simply skip the threads of these posters because I know they're only spam, and I feel like there might be many people doing that, so what's the benefit of it? I don't know, maybe I got old and grumpy, but as an experienced person in this industry, I don't pay attention to anyone that treats me like a horny surfer :2 cents:

I think updates are interesting.

Honest answer, I try to keep frivolous posts promoting our sites to a minimum. There is a forum now for announcements so I keep things like minor program announcements and our weekly FHGs in there... but having something good in the main forum is great for branding and since a large number of affiliates know our program and sites sometimes it helps to show them that we are growing and changing. It can be abused of course but as long as I feel ok about what I post and do not go overboard and no one complains then I think it evens out

well, of course, you're right, and your program is a sponsor, so I think it's a different situation. But for some people, even those posting hotties (and I'm not against some "eye candy" so to speak), this is becoming a double edge knife, I really doubt many people bothers to check those spam threads, and if so, I doubt they get many clicks. And for those posting every time they update their blogs or every time they sign up for a sponsor, they only add noise to a board that's getting pretty crappy already with all the trolls and whining babies
