What the fuck is google doing now..

???? Changing backrounds?

fatfoo 06-09-2010 09:42 PM

They are always changing images.

I like the homepage of Google better than Yahoo, because Yahoo has many ads.

dropped9 06-09-2010 09:51 PM

just hit you on icq.... hit me up

NetHorse 06-09-2010 09:55 PM

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD LORD, it's time to panic people.

Ron Bennett 06-09-2010 10:01 PM

So much for Google being fast and lean.

The background image I get is 190KB. Not huge, but still the slight lag of fetching the image is noticeable compared to how fast Google used to load.

As for why Google is doing the backgrounds ... presumably to encourage more people to signup / sign into their Google account, since it appears login is required to change the background image.

lots of people nervous... they just adjusted a lot of things to fight spammers and smart asses tricking adsense or manipulating SERPS... simple as that.

good times are coming for the honest hard-working ones.

riddler 06-09-2010 10:40 PM

you cant remove it either, what the fuck is this bullshit.

Bird 06-09-2010 11:03 PM

try'n to be more like bing or what...

mynameisjim 06-09-2010 11:10 PM

I think they were doing beta testing it a few weeks ago because it would show every now and then. First time I saw it I thought it was a total rip off of Bing.

This looks really bad for Google. They dominate search yet they steal an idea from Bing?

quantum-x 06-09-2010 11:37 PM

thank god for the search bar in chrome...

Holy christ wtf is going on i just checked bing and it looks just like the OLD google wtf???? Are they joking around with us??? or is this a massive spyware hit we dont know about lol???

EliteWebmaster 06-10-2010 01:37 AM

Google is going down the toilet. Did you see that ugly left panel when you try to search for pics. It's practically the same thing as the tab on the left corner. So essentially, it makes the results page smaller for no apparent reason. Just see it for yourself. They better get their act together, some of the decisions google has been making these past few months are downright destroying their search engine.

Mike Dutch 06-10-2010 01:45 AM

lol mine is full of tulip fields

hypedough 06-10-2010 02:03 AM

Getting a white background...

mightyjoe 06-10-2010 03:09 AM

there is no background here but plain white. maybe only idiot people getting background?

rowan 06-10-2010 04:02 AM

Another change I've noticed recently is that the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button comes and goes. When it's gone, the "Google Search" button stretches the entire width of the query box.

Zyber 06-10-2010 04:11 AM

Google has also started using the front page for political messages.

Recently I saw a text with "In honor of the soldiers who have given their lives for our country" next to the American flag.

It must piss off a lot of people to be force-fed with such crap.

Google has really made a lot of negative changes lately, straying away from their core values of simplicity, which was the reason of their success.

Are they too big to fail now?

babymaker 06-10-2010 04:58 AM

Obama will bail them out dont worry so if they are too big to fial lol then they are all set will be able to fuck up non stop and still walk away with 5 or 10 billion each when they close :) Thank god for Obama :) We need bailouts for the porn biz :D

On a side note how the fuck can you get rid of this i went to change image and can only change to another image no option to turn to blank??

ottopottomouse 06-10-2010 05:40 AM

Image will get cached... (won't load every time you visit google)
Unless you setup your browser (or firewall, antivirus..) other way..

Monique Niccole 06-10-2010 12:22 PM

What a completely useless feature. Shouldn't they be spending their time fixing up Google Buzz or something?

Scott McD 06-10-2010 12:27 PM

Pretty gay.

It's like when GFY gets skinned. Then goes back to normal. Original is always best!!

mattz 06-10-2010 12:37 PM

Yeah I saw that too, I kind of like the idea
