Two things that are the biggest ripoffs to buy these days...
have to be replacement razor blades and printer ink. I feel financially raped every time I buy either. What every day items make you feel ripped off when you buy them?
|
Printer ink for sure. My brother makes me laugh. He always buys cheap ass printers for like $30 on sale. Instead of getting a replacement ink for $30-$40 he just buys a new printer.
|
yeah those two things really piss me off
mach 3 razors are hella expensive it seems |
razors take the piss they are so expensive, changed from the gillette fusion back to mach 3 to save a few quid. think its about £11 for the fusion blades!
|
Did you know supposedly the Gillette founder used to go around and give out blades for free? imagine that.
he built up a user base with the free model and than started to charge. i wonder if he was one of the first to use the free model. |

A total rip off Sarah :Oh crap |
that's why I grew a beard. just trim it once a month.
Printer ink, luckily my wife liberates the ink from work. |

Likewise with printers. Selling replacement cartridges is BIG business. The only way to get folks to buy replacement cartridges is to make they have a printer. BOOM! The printers are free or damn close to it. Think about it...$30 for a recycled plastic thingy with $1.50 of ink in it... |
I currently use the Mach3 Turbo and because of ingrown hair issues, I'm thinking of switching to a double edge razor, or even better, a *gasp* straight edge razor. One of those can last you a lifetime.
As for the printer ink, there are places that refill cartridges for a much lower price. |
Get a Kodak printer and save money.
http://store.kodak.com/store/ekconsu...oryID.28889300 I plan to get rid of mine, and get a kodak. Printer ink is much cheaper with them. Like $15 |

Interesting how as film has disappeared as an everyday purchase the same companies have got involved with printer supplies. |
HDMI cables are another ripoff item that pisses me off. Specifically "Monster" cables and the idiots who try to push them on you at big name retailers. I get into an argument every time one of the salespeople recommends Monster Cables to me.
They'll try to sell you an HDMI cable for $100+ when you can get a $4 cable that does exactly the same job. |
You'll realize yourself that when you buy a new printer, the cardridge is filled for 50% ?
Besides that, to refill it by yourself is just 5 minutes work. |
Problem with buying a new printer is that the ink cartridges does not contain the same amount of ink as replacements does, they are only half full or so.
The printer companies are not stupid. |
I was tired of the damn ink jets hardening up ,buy new ink and it would do the same after a month..bought a laser and so much better now

I bought a triple blade razor from Tescos, big supermarket chain in Europe, and there were 15 blades and the razor for a fraction of the cost of the big name brands. Look around for the store brands and save money. Probably all made by Gillette any way.
|
Electric razors are just as bad. New heads are $30, new batteries are expensive (I can't remember how much) and yet you can buy a completely new one for $50.
|
Mines are dating and parenting...
|
Amazon Prime FTW! They're still ridiculously expensive however with prime it's free two day shipping so:

Gas. Driving a 650hp BLOWN V8 around town leaves me at the pump way too often.

people actually b uy new ink cartridges for their printers? i just buy a new printer...
worst rip offs on the market are new vehicles... :2 cents: |
toilet paper.
|
Razor blades.... LOL.
I use a re-chargeable electric razor. However, I ran out to the cleaning fluid and never bought any more. I was it be hand every weekend, takes about thirty seconds. However, I've noticed that the "clean now" light goes on every seven days no matter what. Total rip off. They just want you to buy this cleaning liquid. |
Celeb tapes have been a total rip off lately :(
|
HP Printers. I have one with built-in Wifi. Whenever it claims that it is running low on ink it will broadcast a message that will popup on all the connected computers. This broadcast happens many times per day, annoying the fuck out of you. Brainwashers indeed.
The electronic chip inside HP ink cartridges is programmed to expire on a set date, not when the cartridge is actually empty. No more HP for me. Extortion-ware.. |

Can't think of anything that I could classify as "daily usage"
But what's totally overpriced here are: - cars (in average 20 - 40 pct. more expensive than in the States) - cell phones (iPhone is about $ 1000) - consumer electronics (in average 30 pct. more expensive than in the States) - clothing and shoes (in average 30 - 50 pct. more expensive than in the States) Apart from that: - VAT (20 pct. of anything you buy) - gas ($ 8,5 - 9 per gallon) - banking (most expensive in Europe) - cell phone plans (clusterfuck, good I don't use my cell much) |
Printer Ink is most definitely the craziest thing that most people must buy now days. I saw on Fox4 the other day the Deal or Dud dude showed everyone how to hotwire your inkjet cartridge to actually use all the ink in the cartridge. It said there is still upto 30-40% left inside when it gets thrown away. Kodaks new cartridges are just using more of the ink in the cartridge so it seems like they last longer. Ill see if I can find the video of how easy it is.
Another thing with a Multi-Function machine is the drum but there are instructions out there to reset the counter and get 3 times the use before really needing another one because copies are bad. New Cars suck because you can lose upto $30k just signing the papers. We bought a new Cadillac SRX 4WD V8 Sticker $62k but a year later we couldnt give it away for $25k trade in was $19k with 7000 miles !!! It was nice having a brand new car but never again i cant afford that. |

just don't get original ink and you'll be ok. For anything that needs better quality, just use a digital printing company and you'll be fine ;)

so if you don't need color printing go with laser printer... I remeber I've paid my first one roughly 1.000 euros about 10years ago... And you know what? It still prints! |
well depending who you buy from, porn memberships can be big giant rips offs as well.

I just email them what I need printed out and by the time I get there it's done... |
toilet paper! Thats why the have those toilets with the water canon on them and it makes you feel ummmm...... hahahha

Was going to post that one myself. That's the business to be in if you ask me. |
Domain names.
Certain brand name anythings... Cell phone service. |
Bottled water has to be one of the biggest ripoffs
|
printer ink definitely, the one I got now isn't so bad but still a ripoff, If a chick told me she worked at the hp factory I would probably marry her for the unlimited supply of inkage.

Razor blades! ARGH! I picked up a 21 pack of Mach 3 blades at Costco and they were a good price, but my man and I swear they aren't as sharp or dull faster than the smaller packs from regular stores. :( Weird.
As for printer ink, we bought a little black n white laser two years ago and have only had to change the toner once. You couldn't pay me enough to go back to ink. |
Milk...if you live in Florida. When we were on vacation a few months back, a gallon of milk was almost $5.
I pay about $1.80 a gallon here in Western NY. |
It's actually better to buy a new razor than to buy the replacement blades. The blades that come with a razor are much sharper and last longer than the replacements. This is by design.. since they make a lot more money off the replacement blades.
I also use a (brother) laser black and white, it's over 2 years old and the toner has never been replaced. |

Razor blades aren't so bad to me, probably because I use the fuck out of each one I get til it practically stops being able to shave at all.
Printer ink is god awful though, and milk sucks too given I live alone and 2 half-gallons is just too much for me to get at a time in order to get the "discount" most stores give on it. Batteries can be kind of ridiculous too if you use enough of them, though I learned long ago to go with rechargeables. Gas and paper plates are pretty bad too. |
