The New Truth: China Discovered America

According to Discovery HD here today. Columbus never made it to mainland North America. Divers discovered giant ships anchors from China that scientists dated back over 4,000 years.

That's almost the beginning of time according to Palin.

Columbus spent two months exploring the coasts of Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica & Panama, all part of mainland North America, on his fourth voyage in 1502.

AmigoPorn 06-12-2010 05:41 PM

But Central America is not "mainland" North America.

Are you really nitpicking over this? It's what they said in the piece, and it's not even that important considering they were talking about dating the anchors at 4k+ years old. :1orglaugh

DNA taken from Native Indians shows clearly ancestry going back to Asia and the Pacific Islands. There has been flint tools and weapons discovered that clearly show the work of Europeans.

Columbus did not discover the Americas. People were already there.

I spend too much time watching the History Channel. LOL

Never made sense to me that Columbus discovered America when there were already people here.. and he thought he was in India..

Konkan 06-13-2010 07:36 AM

When Columbus came in America he discovered what? Nothing! There were people there with their own culture and goods but a way behind in technological invents than European conquerors. In American continent were cultures thousands years before Columbus arrived. It was a big discovery for European greedy leaders and nothing else...and all the rest is history!!!

i thought the prevailing consensus was that humans made their way from the east across the bering strait and into what is now north america.

these people became the "indigenous" tribes and continued to move south into the americas.

so all of the cultures, american indians, mayans, aztecs, incans etc were descendants
of what we now call asia.

i think? heh...

justinsain 06-13-2010 11:10 AM

In my sunday paper the Parade magazine had an interesting article covering this very subject.:)

You can read it here: http://www.parade.com/news/2010/06/1...americans.html

ilnjscb 06-13-2010 11:35 AM

Before europeans came the n atives sat around "discovering themselves" all day. Then the vikings, chinese, and spaniards cams and messed it all up with their guns, and germs, and speckled trout, and lederhosen, and now you get called a degenerate when you sit around and discover yourself.

acrylix 06-13-2010 03:04 PM

Here's an interesting documentary on the theory that ice age Europeans may have been the first humans in America:

I think the ones who "discovered" it came across the Bering Strait land bridge between what is now Russia and Alaska. That was more than 4,000 years ago - more like 15,000 years ago. They were the same race that would become the Mongols, from Mongolia obviously, which is now part of China, so same difference.

Inuits and Native Americans (north to south) have characteristics and DNA closely matching tribes from Asia. I mean, get a load of this map:
