Anyone got their Hotmail accounts closed yesterday due to violation of TOS?
I got my hotmail accounts closed yesterday due to them saying it violated their TOS. I had both the account for over 2 years and never used did anything to violate their TOS. WTF?!
So I jumped through their online hoops to find out how I violated their TOS and this is the bullshit response I got from them: Hello, Thank you for writing to Windows Live Hotmail Customer Support. This is Jill and I gather that you are unable to access your [email protected] account. I understand how important this can be for you and your need for this issue to be addressed immediately. We have reviewed your account and have determined that it was closed due to a Terms of Use (TOU) violation. To read our TOU, please visit http://help.live.com/help.aspx?project=tou&mkt=en-us. We appreciate your continued support as we strive to provide you with the highest quality service available. Thank you for contacting Windows Live Hotmail. Sincerely, Windows Live Hotmail Customer Support Seriously, I asked how I violated the TOS and this is the POS response I get. I sent 1 email to a client regarding my domain and somehow they think I violated their POS TOS???!! |
I didn't know anyone uses hotmail anymore.
|
Worst part is that I have some important contacts in those accounts and now I've lost them.
I use gmail for most of my domain sales but there are some clients who still have my old hotmail account info so they contact me through it. I'm terribly frustrated with MS. I already got that it somehow "violated their tos" from the generic message I got when I tried to log in but what's the point in emailing them and asking them about it when they are just going to spew out the same useless "violated tos" without even checking the account to see what violated it? I know there was nothing that violated it unless contacting my client who was interested in buying one of my domains "VIPAsians.com" somehow is on their violation list lol |
Guess you arent so "Elite" after all eh?

Not accusing you of being a thick twat but in a panic people do daft things. Did you contact hotmail separately about this or did you get an email from 'hotmail' saying you were naughty and fall for the standard you've just had your account phished tell you that you were naughty and you'll just roll over and give up thing?
|
No when I tried to login into my account, it gave me the MicroCrotch screen of death saying that "Your account has violated our TOS, Contact Support". When you click on the "Contact Support" link, It asks you if you:
1. Forwarded a chain letter or joke to a large group of friends 2. Sent a newsletter or invitation in a mailing list 3. Sent an email to a large group of people 4. All of the Above 5. None of the Above You are suppose to pick one, which I did (Option 5), then provide them with your account name, an alternate email they can contact you and that's about it. Then I got that piece of crap response from them above. Nothing like keeping me in the dark than stating the obvious by saying "Your account violated our TOS" but fail to shed light on what exactly violated it. :( |
wtf, i have alot of hotmail accounts. For a long time... wouldnt be so great when that shit gets closed
|
I would recommend you switch over to gmail as soon as possible my friend. You don't want to end up like me :(

Now, I know they are just being douche bags for terminating my account for a silly reason like "including text" of a pornographic website (no content, not even an active site btw) :disgust |

Seems like you're a bit fucked if they won't even give you anything other than a standard template response.
|
So basically you cant talk about porn if you use hotmail?
|
dont use any ms product at all
fuck them right in the ass most of japan isnt using any ms garbage i cant wait to see the headlines when the giant falls. |
Damm say it isent true I have been using my hotmail account for years ..mm time to get a gmail account I guess
|
If you think Hotmail is great for business, drop Flash for Silverlight.

hotmail is garbage anyway

The problem is that besides Gmail, there aren't many viable options for easy of use (free emails) so that's why people still use Hotmail. Yahoo is a joke, and the others lack features and storage space for attachments. That's why MicroCrotch's hotmail is still around. But after their last batch of antics with banning accounts for a mere mention of porn/adult related material, many will start switching to other email companies.
|
better off using an email from your own domain as then you know it's always yours and nobody can fuck with it, plus a lot of domain thefts happen from hacked gmail accounts etc... I have a few free email accounts from yahoo but I don't use any free email address for anything important.
|
I feel your pain, man. Yet another reason to use GMAIL besides the awesome spam filter.
|
Why do people run businesses from hotmail, gmail, yahoo, or any other free email?
If you are in business, use a business domain people. It will boost your credibility and pay for itself many times over. |

someone may have listed your email as "Phishing"... did you piss anyone off while using Hotmail?
|
i don't use hotmail...
|
I am laughing at all the suggestions to switch to Gmail. How do you guys know that in six, eight or ten years that Google won't be deciding that the whole email thing is a money drain and waste of time and that they will be closing accounts too. Or maybe the whole company unexpectedly tanks. Seems unlikely, but anything can happen in these times of frentic changes in the technology business. Use your own domain emails and keep LOCAL copies of all your information, not just in "the cloud" on some other company's server somewhere.

The first rule of mentioning porn with hotmail is that you don't mention porn with hotmail.
See how I did that - a movie reference? Ha! |
Mine still works.
|
wow, ive never met someone who still uses hotmail
keep with the trends and get a gmail account :2 cents: |
killed my hotmail account a long long time ago.
but would be completly fucked if gmail decided to do something similar :( |
That sucks, shouldn't be any of their business what you transmit if it is legal. Unless someone was spamming the stuff.

One thing is for certain, I will never buy another Microsoft product ever if I don't have too. I would rather use a pirated version of their software whenever possible if I absolutely have to use their product. :thumbsup |
if you go here http://windowslivehelp.com/forums.aspx?productid=1
and ask , you will get a personal response from the m crew about your account. They usually get accounts back running the next day ( if there isn't any real violation ) * they may have some rule against using the free hotmail service to do commercial business regarding domains |
I've been blocking hotmail accounts for 10 years.
