ICQ 7.2. Anyone using it?
I have to say, looks like they have put some work into it. Of course time will tell. Anyone else using it? What are your thoughts?
|
back to 6.5 from 7 version in 5 minutes
the biggest annoying thing was it can't be "unpinned" from taskbar, which is really annoying. Not sure if they fixed that in 7.2 though |

I installed 7.2 last week because I was having problems with my old version, seems fine to me. I like it better than whatever I had before. |
using 7.1, does 7.2 eliminate my new russian friends :1orglaugh if so I'll upgrade

From all icq versions I like ICQ Pro 2003b the most. But Miranda rulez anyway.
|
I was forced to upgrade to 7.2 today, couldn't send files any longer on 6.5.
|
I am rather enjoying that it is a little bigger than before but, then again my eyes aren't what they used to be so every little bit helps. I don't like that I lost the little icons like the hardhat, beer mug, etc. Jury is out on the Facebook feeds.
|
yeap, I just upgrade it. so far so good.
|
ICQ for me is just quick message to people I know, I don't want it to be a social networking tool. But I might just stick with icq6 and save myself from the social networking scene.
|
No more N/A status? Hmmmm
|
I saw it today, will have to get it now.
|
I have been on 7.2 for a few months and like it.
|
hmm...it won't even install correctly, so nope.
edit: now it works |
I like the new look...also I see a facebook feature I may have to check out. So far so good, I like it.

I have 7.1 and have not upgraded as of yet. I keep getting prompted to upgrade, but have procrastinated about it....maybe I should check it out ;)
|
One of the problems I had with 6.5 was the large message windows. I got it tweaked down to no ads anywhere and just a few lines of messages in the upper, and a line to type on in the lower..My contact list thingy is a rectangle, with green flowers and names, then red flowers and names.. no extra BS. I dont want to have to wrestle to "fix" it again, so I've been trying to ignore the upgrade.
Is it ad-free out of the box this time or plastered with ads, favorites and desktop icons galore? |
Im using it now and I find its cool!!!!!!

I have been using miranda for years and see no reason to change.
|
I really dont understand why the adult webmaster community is still hanging on to ICQ. We should move to Gtalk or anything else.
Those that use Miranda , dont you have problems where you add someone and then when you move to a different computer or Miranda installation, you dont have those contacts added or you dont have their nick, just their ICQ number? I tried digsby, miranda (normal and portable) and fring on my phone and I have this problem. It's like ICQ doesnt sync contacts to their network or something. |
i use 6.5 and loving it
search google for "older icq version" |
I lost all my history of chat with the upgrade. :(

But getting back to the thread question, I use ICQ 7.2 but setup with a classic view. I only have 'status and name' of the users on my list, rather than 'Status message and avatar' |
just realized i'm behind times, using 6.5. what i hate about icq is their crappy way of showing history, wondering if it changed in latest version?
anyone else who upgraded lost their past history logs? |
